Parra Nines Favorites?

Parramatta in my opinion would have to be the firm favorites to win the Nines tournament. Here is a list of reasons why I think we can win.

1. Our big strong fast wingers will be absolutely dangerous to say the least.

2. Our halves combo is suited for this fast pace footy action and with their great form last year would be wanting to come out and make a statement. Moses in particular with his pace will put the opposition into two different mind sets.

3. Our mobile forwards that can offload, pass step and run hard will be hard to stop. ( Nathan Brown, Ryan Matteson, Shaun lane and Junior Paulo).

What else am I missing? What do you guys think? Do you agree or think I'm way off? I know the Nines is not important but I would love parramatta to have a real crack and make a statement.

  • What are you missing? Well the fact that Parra haven't released their squad for the nines might be one thing your missing. How can you know how strong we will be when you dont know who's playing? The other thing your missing is that none of the other 15 teams have released their squads either so it's impossible to compare.

    • Yeah those are valid points but since we have to field a certain number of our first grade squad and that other teams have to do the same as well as we know roughly what each team can field we can use something called an educated guess...

    • Fmd

  • Should only send our reserve graders lol

    • Give the nines a miss .that way no injuries to our main squad

      • Every club is bound to send a certain number of your top 10 players.

  • Fuck the nines, waste of time and its an injury risk for nothing, send some reserves.

    • It's a great chance for some young players to show what they got. Also helps the boys trial plays as well as to get some fitness. I love the Nines. I would love to see kids like parry given a go.

    • Yes I also would love to see Schneider, Parry and dunster. The Nines are great for us fans to see some of the younger talent coming through.

  • The 9's are a good for nothing comp. I hate 20/20 cricket so you can imagine my feelings to this comp.

If they brought back the old Tooth/ Panasonic knock-out comp I'd be gladly in favour. Take the 1st round draw to the country. Give the folks there something.

"Interesting take on Hopgood there LB.
Apart from handling errors, i thought he had been going fine. This year he is supposedly on $320K of the salary cap, and is playing every week. I'm more concerned about say Matterson on $650k or Paulo on $950k,…"

In 2023, we signed a lad from Penrith named J'maine Hopgood with the intent of him being a diamond in the rough of the Penrith system. It proved to be a good call.
Coming in to replace the middles that left the year prior. Hopgood got the start at…

I'd be tempted to give him the rest of the season off to get himself sorted and injury free, but only on the proviso that he…"
