MAYOR SIGNS WITH EELS

Former Parramatta Lord Mayor John Chedid.

Former Parramatta Lord Mayor John Chedid.

High-profile Parramatta councillor John Chedid is pulling in $150,000 a year from the Parramatta Eels after standing down as mayor last September. Chedid’s nice lil’ earner comes through his role as CEO of the Eels’ Premiership Club for business networkers. Chedid was mayor when the council hatched plans to pay Eels’ stars Tim Mannah, Will Hopoate and Nathan Peats$75,000 each to act as city ambassadors. But the controversial idea was dumped last month amid the storm over third-party payments. Chedid said he abstained from the most recent deliberations, as did ex-deputy mayor Paul Garrard, who helped develop the scheme. He is now an Eels director.

That's decent coin.

Does anyone know if that's a full time gig?

Thankfully no mention of helicopter flights to Premiership Club events.

  • Lol
  • Given the potential for a conflict of interest the 2 councillors would not be able to participate in discussions , deliberations or votes in any Parramatta Leagues Club matters before the Council .

    • Which doesn't really help with lobbying for our causes, does it?
    • Given that he is ex-lord mayor (ie no longer working for the council), I don't see how it is a problem.
    • Yobz, Chedid is still a councillor, he's just not the Lord Mayor.
  • I wonder if me and the bloke down the road are buddies because we are both Australian?

Wouldn't same point be made without the last 5 words?
  • I didn't realise that the Premiership club involved someone being paid for being involved. I guess they need to have someone to coordinate it, but that sort of coin looks like a full time gig. I wonder if the report is accurate or if there are other aspects to his role.
  • The guy looks as shifty as Frank Underwood but without the intelligence.
  • Gee you cant judge a book by its cover or can you. Jobs for the boys imo.
  • Coco the lebanese at our club have a pretty good reputation for sticking together, Fongy is spot on with his question and the answers yes.

Watching the Cows and am of the opinion Purdue a far better player than Galvin. Not saying to try and sign but I don't believe Galvin the best young player around. Purdue has played numerous positions and has excelled every time. Thoughts?.
