  • Any other interesting happenings?
  • spagnolo and ozzie did an absolutely fantastic job.

fitzy was up to his old tricks but in the end was the laughing stock of the members.

  • What was the deal with 5 candidates all of a sudden withdrawing their application to run for the board?

  • spags summed that up well.

you'll have to ask the candidates.

  • It was only really two candidates who withdrew. Dr Michael Johnson and Geoff Gerard had already withdrawn earlier due to them being elected on the NSWRL Boards. Which was another point that Fitzy made a goose of himself about, challenging Gerards eligibility to be on the NSWRL board. Mario Libertini withdrew late and Caylo did too. I wouldnt mind betting Caylo will have a inside lane for the Leagues Club elections next year, which of course controls the NRL side.

One point I found uttelry confusing, was the motion about membership badges. It was put to the members that when you pay your yearly membership, you should be automatically issued a membership badge.  Over the past two years this has always been the case but you had to inform the club you wanted it, this was a cost saving measure, and as Ossie informed us, there are still 1000 badge from this year sitting in the football office that were not claimed.  Common sense if you ask me is to make badges for those who want them and not waste money on the production of badges unwanted by some members.

Here is where I got confused, the member who raised the motion insisted it go to the floor, at which stage it was carried! (just). So now the club will go ahead and pay for the production of a badge for every member whether they want it or not.  And going by history will result in thousands of unclaimed badges sitting in the footy office and waste of thousands and thouands of members funds. Confused? I still am!

  • I got my badge sent out to me last year?

You're right this is silly PESC. Where are the cost savings - the postage to send out a badge? Given that Football Club membership is part of Season Ticket Holder why wouldn't they just put the badges in the pack when you get your season ticket pass. This annoys me with the club - they scrimp and don't spend money in the most stupid areas.

    • it's not only the cost in the postage to send out the badge, but the cost in making the badge itself..

ossie summed it up well. if you want the badge, they were more than willing to provide members with it, as opposed to producing one for each member and then having over a thousand still sitting there uncollected.

a thousand times however much it costs to produce a badge is a bit of a waste of money wouldn't you say?

again, the most appropriate thing to do IMO is send them up upon request, as ossie eluded to.

      • Exactly! You seem to understand the idea, why didn't those who carried the motion? Money down the drain!
