the Eels are considering bringing home the one that got away to solve their playmaking void. In the market for a big name like Matt Orford or Brett Kimmorley for season 2011, we are told the club will make a play for Eels junior and now Warriors No. 7 James Maloney for 2012. Many at the club have been surprised by his development and are keen to bring him back home for good

  • Source?
  • daily telegraph, the story about luke lewis signing on with panthers, it has it on bottom of that page
  • well for a start he's actually a North Sydney junior from the Central Coast and to even sound him out 18 months before his contract expires is nothing short of lunacy on the part of the club. I actually don't think it's true and even we did make a statement about bringing him back than I'd say it was a diversion from other possible news.
    • Agreed. I'm sure the Warriors having taken a bet on Maloney and striking pay-dirt - they have a top-grade half they're paying way unders for - are going to be more than happy to release him from his contract.
  • Who the hell is James Maloney?
Doesn't hit the radar in NRL wastelands.
  • I'm surprised you know who he is Tricky. I thought Tom Humble was the only player in the world to you!
  • So we send him off to play elsewhere so his value increases 5 fold and then we pay even more than that to bring him back.

    It does sound like Parramatta.
    • I remember when Maloney was playing in the halves with Blake Green. The storm pinched Maloney from under parra's nose and then the sharkies pinched Green. Maloney was the captain of the Toyota cup if I can remember correctly. He was good but didn't deliver for the storm hence him been released to the warriors were he is on fire. Wouldn't mind him back because he is a complete half who can kick goals also.
  • Like I said Tricky I live in NRL wasteland - there is only six people up here that know there are more teams than the Cowgirls and Drongos in the comp.
  • We could of had him for nothing - now we are considering getting him back for overs ???
