Papali clearly not a 6

Heading says it all.Not even close to being a 5/8.Goes ok at fullback ,maybe Iiongi to 5/8?

    • Have to agree I think Moses was terrible tonight  in both attach and defence, it's like he expected an easy night and when things didn't go our way the old panic frantic Moses came out with no control and no game management and certainly not a captain or leader. And here I thought maybe he had grow up and out of that personality 🤦‍♂️

      • 100%.
Zero control, zero composure and zero guidance.

I am a fan of Mitch however tonight he was way off.

Hawkins missed 22 tackles in his last 4 games. Ryles would be impressed with Papali's 31 tackles and nil misses tonight.

        • That is interesting so his defence is pretty solid but he's not really getting the shapes and attacking side of 6 yet. Ryles has kind of said he doesn't care about going for wins  right now and is more future focused so maybe he persists with Joash for now

          • Is there any players we should be qualifying for Cup?

  • Joash isn't a running threat that's the problem him and Brown together there's no creativity because of the lack the mentioned he doesn't put the defense in 2 minds it's either early ball and he never goes deep into the line and by not doing it JAC at the end of the chain gets hung out to dry.

  • Joash is a back up #1 or back up #14.

He doesn't offer enough upside to cover his downsides, he has not been able to threaten the line, he gets dominated by defenders and is a liability in defence. Jye Grey, Kini, Trae Fuller, Sua Faalogo are all of similar stature but they are threatening nearly every time they get there hands on the ball

    • Yes with room to move playing in the back 3 not at 6. Papali is an out and out 1. Not a 14, not a 6 but  a fullback

  • Get rid of him and his fancy hair colour back to reserve grade.

    Buy Sandton Smith

  • Again I seem to be on my Pat Malone here but I think Joash may be a better fullback than Iongi and maybe Iongi is more suited to 6. If Joash had of been on the end of a couple of those line breaks on the weekend I don't think Jye Gray gets to him. Everything Papali is getting criticised for at 6 is exactly what Iongi does, he plays direct and squares the line up. Iongi's support play is so far off the mark for an elite fullback atm

    • I don't think Joash would have positioned himself to score the try that Iongi scored. Both players have reasonably sharp acceleration but their top speed doesn't compare to their contemporaries.

The other thing is that a number of breaks were made through the middle and Joash should have been there, he hung back a bit too much. I agree with the popular rhetoric at this stage, he is a handy fullback back up and it stays there.

Iongi on the other plain is the potential, first up in this game and he only "had a game" not a stand out.

Our defense and line speed was the main problem in the Souths game.....it comes from Rylie and the edge forwards need to stand up in the front line. Moses was guilty on 3 occasions in the tries that Souths scored, he should not be defending the front line. It is where most of his injuries have come from and he needs a lock to run with defensively to give him that necesary minding that many of the top halves have had over the years.

"Roosters by 30
our bench is way to small, I'd be putting Toni Matele on the bench, I'd even put emu on the bench at this rate, Doorey and Guymer are not bigger enough, roosters will roll us thru the middle. "

"That's the problem with blokes that run hard like him, the risk of injury increases. Doorey's another. Runs like he's been shot out of a cannon, but injured every 3-4 games."
