I didn't see an issue with Nathan Browns run.. can anyone explain why it was called obstruction ?? I don't think he even touched a Melbourne player or was in their way
You have to release the ball, I.e kick or pass before running beyond the decoy runner. This is why you often see smart players just drop to the ground for a vuluntary tackle once they realise they have done it to avoid giving away a penalty.
People get confused because they think its all good if the decoy runner hits the perfect line, that being 1) the inside shoulder and 2) runs completely through the line. But that is only one the rules around decoys. The other is as shown in that "technical" decision. I say "technical" because obviously none of the storm players were actually impeded directly.
