  • How good were the '80's Carls :)

So much awesome stuff in there - The Breakfast Club was probably my fave - and Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles.

80's girls were the prettiest girls in history :)

  • Every single generation says that their growing up decade was the best, but quite simply, the 80s were off the charts. It will go down in history as the greatest time in the history of humanity....

Movies, Music, Lifestyle and the general good times people were having.
Housing was cheap vs income, cost of living was low.
PC never existed or not really pushed.
We celebrated NY like it was our last.
We celebrated the queens birthday like we gave a fuck about her - with our own stock pile of firecrackers.

No internet was the only downer.

Girls/women were more genuine and cared less about appearances and more about personality and content of character. Still sexy as fuck without all the social media fakeness, Botox and silicone...

  • 80s weren't  bad for us Eels supporters too hey

    • Yes thanks for your reminder about Parra's conquest clinches it  . Eighties were undoubtably best time . LOL

  • The 80's were definitely the best years of my life.

The music was the best and the core of my current play list is still made up of 80's music.
The movies were great (Breakfast Club is one of the best).

Kids were outside playing instead of sitting on thier asses playing video games.

Social Media was a get together at the pub.

I spent a couple of years in the 80's living in America and it was awesome.

I wish my kids could have experienced the 80's because it was far better than the world they currently live in.

  • So so true

  • The 80s , yeah what a time to be a kid.  Best movies, best times for extreme sports kicking off , Mongoose , Redline bikes , Powell Perelta , Santa Cruz skateboards , Morey Boogie , Manta Body boards Tamiya Hornets and Frog RC cars , so much good stuff Sega Master Systems , Nintendo's , and your parents could send you to the shop as a 7 year old  with a hand written note to get them some smokes

Holidays consisted of a 13 hour drive in a V8 Holden to the Goldy , all windows down on a 35 degree day. Just watch the metal on the seat belt buckle or youll end up with 3rd degree burns.

    • In terms of being a kid, the 80's was the balls. We actually went about 12 months in the latish 80's without a TV, probably the best 12 months of my life IIBH.
All weekend out with my mates either on our BMX bikes or our Tony Hawk skaties down the half pipe at Holland Park from sun up till lunchtime, home for a couple of hot dogs and a choccy thick shake, then out again till sun down.

School holidays my parents only saw me at night or feed time. We'd go riding or skating all over town, utterly fearless, no helmets or skid pads, no fun police, no nanny state. If we went to the beach, never wore a rashie shirt, the life guards didn't act like the Gestapo, Life was just fun. There was no ADHD, every 2nd kid wasn't on Ritalin.
Even the TV was better, no crappy reality TV, when I got a bit older, the parents let me stay up and watch the Sunday night movie, there was always a decent choice of movies between 9, 7 & 10.
Now, I pity my kids for the crap society they have to live in.
