Shawn thats one of my fav ever Eels wins, we were brutal that game and absolutely battered them.
Moran running out of the line and breaking JT's nose was a highlight.
Yes you are both right and I was at the game against Norths, we smashed them for about 10 mins, but the sad part was losing the Prelim Final....B Smith could have / should have had at least 2 GF wins, 2001 and 1998 for me. Not to mention his Saints losses and Easts
I'd even argue our 99 team was even stronger, one poor half against the fucking Storm where we bombed two early tries with a 10 point lead and then they scored off a forward pass after they got the ball off a blatent strip.
You may be right mate, I just think that 99 final against Melbourne was lost from the previous year against C'Bury when we led and lost. I really think B Smith was good but something went amiss in these games. We should have got to at least on of those GF's.
Jason Smith was a great player but in the clutch he never seemed to come through for us, he bombed 2 tries himself that game. We socre one of those we win by over 20.
Yes he was v smart but at times too smart for his own good. Was it true he enjoyed a cigarette before / after games? B Smith would not have been happy.
He was a couple of packets a day man, last of the old school.
