Our Hooker

PARRA’S NO.9 PROBLEMParramatta have three quality hookers on their books but only one will get the nod come round one. With some added size to his 2017 squad, Brad Arthur doesn’t want the carry a hooker on his bench which means whoever gets the nod will need to play 80 minutes.Kaysa Pritchard during Parramatta training.Kaysa Pritchard during Parramatta training.Source: News Corp AustraliaIsaac DeGois has satisfied the role for some time now and while he was named as part of the Eels’ leadership group for this year, he’s no guarantee to start the season in the no.9.Both Kaysa Pritchard and Cameron King have been training the house down and will trial for a starting spot come round one.King has been particularly impressive during the pre-season but needs to fix a few defensive faults if he is going to secure the jersey.Fox Sports

  • I like kingy he showed he had vision when he was playing for the red v but a problem for the bench it will be.
  • I think we should carry an extra hooker at least for a few weeks.
  • It will be Isaac De Gois.
  • Does King have a relative working for fox sports? We've had two rubbish write ups this month on how the lego man is about to knock degois off. I'll believe it when I see it.
  • Doesn't matter
In all likelihood all three will get a run at hooker this year
    Due to injury
I reckon we may even need to give Robbo a run at hooker due to all three being out
    • Very distinct possibility I reckon Wile. It still surprises me that Cody Nelson never rates a mention. Awesome bench that is predicted, but all forwards no replacement for IDG.

  • I'm looking forward to seeing King get a shot at playing hooker.
He is almost the opposite type of rake that IDG is.
  • The thing DeGois has going for it him though, obviously isn't his attacking football, it's his line speed, DeGois is nearly always first in the face of who ever is taking a hit up, and the boys follow that.
    • I like IDG, he is a great little player with plenty of heart, leadership and fantastic defensively.
Obviously however, he won't be here for the long term and BA will no doubt be doing the mentorship thing we saw with Gordon and French. That is, IDG showing King what it takes to play in the NRL - full time.
Gasnier got all excited talking about King a couple of times last year and speaks of him with high praise and potential. I will enjoy watching his progress....hopefully?
  • Wasn't there an article a few weeks back that confirmed King as the 1st choice hooker???
