Our Backline in 2016: Left and Right

Our left side attack at times in 2015 was devastating.-Radradra, Daly M winger of the year, scored doubles at will and easily became the NRL's leading try scorer even though he missed a bundle of games.-Norman who was voted our best player by most judges showed enough quality to get really excited about next year.  He was consistent while his halves partners were not. -Taka also had a good 2015.  He combined  well with Semi, showed off a great offload and his defense was solid. For next season I'm not sure that BA will mess around with that left combination.  If that's the case then in 2016 our right side (if we get Hiku) will be all Manly, all new and equally as devastating. With Foran, Gutherson and Hiku on the right  Parra will have a very potent right with creativity, speed and power. When you include a smart footballer like Gordon at fullback we will also have a great hole runner and player that backs up on a regular basis. So in 2016 our backline is looking awesome and we will have added a new dimension to our attack as we will not rely so heavily on that left hand sweep play meaning the Eels will be less predictable.I'm excited!

  • Yep I think it'll be an exciting year. Tbh one of the things I'm most excited about is the addition of Gordon at FB. It'll be nice to have a really solid goal kicker in our side. But yeah, our attack has still been good over the past couple of years despite having very little options (e.g. "pass the ball to semi!"). Imagine how good we'll be now that we have options all over the park :)

  • Ahhh u r dreaming mate. We must have either Morgs or Vai in our backline, its just not Parra without a junior somewhere in the backs.

    • Noooo
  • You have to include the edge forwards in any discussion of the backline these days. Ma'u was a huge part of our left side's potency.

    • Yeah sure. Ex Manly forwards (Gower, Watmough) and Scott on the right and Ma'u, Tep and Edwards to the left. And the big boppers up the guts.
    • Tepai should be on the right side where he runs great lines. With Foran going to the line Tepai could be anything
  • WMD you forgot that defence is also part of the game. Irrespective of who we put on our right side our attack will be much improved as we now have the missing ingredient of this year, speed. Also having speed means we should be able to defend the edges better with inside players able to respond quicker. Another plus is having Scott, a noted defender, on that side also. I hope he improves for next year as he now has a better squad around him then at Knights.
