Osborne confident of locking up Mortimer

Having delivered on his promise of retaining Jarryd Hayne, Eels CEO Paul Osborne is confident of signing Daniel Mortimer to a long term contract."We'll try and get Morts sorted next," Osborne told 1Eyed Eel at Hayne's public signing at the end of last year. "Obviously Jarryd was a priority for us and it's taken up a fair amount of time and effort but we want to get Morts sorted out too."Osborne confirmed that the Dogs had expressed interested in signing Mortimer, but he said the Eels were "well and truly into" negotiations with Mortimer."He's happy here and his dad has indicated he's happy with how we've looked after him, so I'm very confident we can lock Daniel up for a long time," Osborne said."I think he's vitally important to our team."Asked what that might mean for another promising Eels half, Kris Keating, Osborne said the club definitely also wanted to keep the Eels junior."He's a terrific player Kris, and those two [Mortimer and Keating] will probably be the starting halves with Robbo competing because he had such a good year last year."Meanwhile, in the Daily Telegraph today Mortimer has confirmed Osborne's assertion that he's happy with the club saying it would be a very tough decision for me to leave"."I have a lot of things to weigh up, but it would be very hard for me to walk away from this club."

  • Nonsense this kid has class written all over his body if we let him go its gonna be another 10 years in the wilderness we have a chance to secure a class half something the like from his form of last year we aint seen in a long long time hes keen, hes young, and the bloke oozes class and enthusiasm and obvious youth its just what the eels need!!!! We have forwards now we need a decent scrum half/5/8 to complete a nice playing roster a roster thats gonna be hard to keep but if we can sew up this kid in an eels jumper its gonna go a long way to fullfilling a premieship that we all crave!!!

Kenny Power replied to Mr 'BringBackFitzy' Analyst's discussion If Galvin ends up at the Dogs, what then?
"Why I don't think he will go to dogs is because his family seem to be fairly involved in his carear from what I read on tigers forum  and Gus would have no bar of any interference as where we would enable it like the tigers "

"It makes way more sense that Dogs are after DCE. An experienced halfback which is their missing link to a premiership. "

"According to NRL 360 Galvin is heading to the Bulldogs and Gould is typically doing his thing by not showing his cards. I'd be surprised if Galvin ends up at the Eels but it would be good if he did. "
