Origin Peats

Just a quick comment I'd like to make on Peats.I remember reading Peats would throw the 'I just won't play' card when Parra had difficulty in honouring some of their 'promised' payments to players during the Seward years. He left Souths for more money (and obviously a better opportunity), then was shipped off to Titans (where he made superior money to what he was on at Parra), so I believe. He has put his asking price up very highly for his next contract, Titans are baulking, and I've heard the $650k plus price tag may be an impasse for Parra. My question to you all is, do you believe he'll hike his price even further now since he'll now be an Origin player? And if so, which I think he will, will he be worth it.He is a tough little bugger, but he isn't a creator (but that may not be an issue with 2 creative halves).Your thoughts?

  • Great question , I'm suprised there isn't already two threads asking the same thing .
    • I haven't read other threads, if it's a repeat then axe it.
      Apologies..

  • If he can play 80 minutes, defend well and get the forward pack moving, then yes he is worth that much. That will enable the halves to do their thing. One thing we need to be wary of is that if our halves improve over the coming years they could both be on $1M+ in a very short time. We would need to balance this out.

    • If your numbers are right Fong (I have no doubts they are), that's a massive discrepancy in money ($500k to $650k)..
You'd have to say he'll be back with us if those numbers are spot on
    • I see it as the opposite.
Just shows how much Peats is anti coming back to us unfortunately...we offered $650k and he is baulking. It's s great deal more than his nearest offer.

Was really hoping to get peats back but sounds like we need to look elsewhere
  • he would be perfect for our team. We need a tough little bloke to actually tackle and pass it to their chest. 2 things Kaysa can't do

  • Haha . Where would we be without duplicates around here .
  • If money is his obvious objective put him on an incentive scheme. Losses $20,000 every game he misses, $500 every missed tackle etc.
  • And it's that sort of comment that drives people away from the site.
    Sarcasm is clearly your strength.
