Ok, just want to have a little fun to get mind off that pathetic display that BA seemed to love for some reason. Let's go through who we would like to takeover if and when BA is moved on whether in 2024, 2025, 2026, 2042 or 2067 when Jake is ready to take over and continue the Arthur name. Again, just some fun and insight into who we all like outside of the club if we are all so hellbent on moving him on then who do we want instead, let's have a discussion.

I will start of course:

Justin Morgan: Has agreed to join NQ as their assistant in 2024, if we are looking for a coach in 2024 i think he will be able to get out of that deal. He is an interesting name, big part of the Warriors emergence this year, been around the traps. Did some time at Hull KR, winning 99 of his 178 games in charge. He was apart of Canberra and Melbourne for some time, then moved to NZ with the Warriors and the national team. Was head coach of the Warriors NRLW for 3 years also. He has been in and out of different places though has made an impression, good defensive mind and could be a nice, fresh option in future. I would not take his job as an assistant with the Warriors into accoun in 2020, 2021 and 2022 since those were COVID years, the squad were hanging on by a thread. Done well this year with defensive structures.

Ryan Carr: He was originally earmarked as the heir to BA, coming from Featherstone Rovers. He couldn't wait any longer and jetted to St. George Illawarra where he knew there was a chance Hook will get sacked therefore being able to flex his ability as the interim. How has he fared? Well, fine with what he has got. I think Carr is a fine option though there are better, but he could surprise us with a better roster. Could work well with Barrett in the attack.

Michael Maguire: This would be the media favourite. Was Souths a fluke? Or was Wests just awful and made him look bad? Well we will see when he gets his 3rd NRL appointment, it will happen. Do not really want it to be us though, i feel he can easily lose dressing rooms.

Andrew Ryan: Very raw, left field option. He is a future coach in the making though nowhere near ready yet. However, if BA survives to 2025, Ryan could be a nice heir to bring in. Done a great job with juniors in U19's. Though could be a great assistant addition.

Luke Burt: My all-time favourite player, was a dream of mine to see him coach Parramatta. When BA had a bad 2018, i wanted Burt to take over in 2019. He has done a great job with Burleigh in Q cup though there are better options at this stage than Burt. Bring him back to coach NSW cup then have him earmarked to take over? I would be thrilled with that.

John Cartwright: This would be another media pick, done a great job in Brisbane with Walters, always earmarked as getting another shot at some point considering his job with GC was not too bad. He was also in line to get the job in 2014 before BA. Not sure if we should go with a retread however.

John Morris: Mr nice guy, did a pretty good job with Cronulla with the squad he inherited. Though i just do not see him as a great head coach, he would be a very good assistant around the squad but as a hard nosed head coach? Think need someone different.

Ben Hornby: This would be a nice hire, sneaky good hire. He has been great for Souths, they want to keep him, he is a natural leader. He looks like a head coach. He might need a few more years yet though. However, Souths finish to the year might dictate Hornby's stock.

Adrian Lam: Doubt he would want to leave Leigh and Lachlan. He has a sweet job there at the moment, used to living in UK, would be hard to pry him out. But if he is interested, he is a risk worth taking.

Marc Bretnall: Was seemingly meant to be Bellamy's heir. Now that seems to be Jason Ryles, unless Bretnall and Ryles are meant to fight it out in 2024. Bretnall has massive raps on him, though how often have we seen Melbourne assistants leave and not work out? Again, why has Ryles been brought in if Bretnall is so good? Now, Bretnall could be the new Webster, he is young and been in a great system for years. But only coached at Melbourne, that can be a bad thing too.

I have not mentioned Slater for the reason being that he will not coach at Parramatta nonetheless in the NRL, so why bother. If he was interested than he is my top pick. But in the NRL it will be at Melbourne and that is it.

OK, go for it let's see who you all like.

    • But he ain't available til 2025 at the earliest.

        • Settle down mate, but also who is to say Burgess will leave after a year anyway?

And also no it is not, i do not think it will happen but it sure can. Teams do wait til season end to sack a coach.

    • Entice Bennett (most likely 2025)ASAP with Luke Burt assistance coach, if possible,to takeover after 2 years from Bennett.

      • He wont leave Brisbane.

    • Don't stress it's all good, I would have Burgess easily if he does well at Warrington.

  • Another school of thought is to have a dual head coach like furner/bennett.  Barrett handles the attack and someone else handles the defence.

  • If Brad Arthur goes I'd suggest Holbrook would be the next inline option  . Has coached at our club before so has connections so you would asume they'd have him on their shortlist of candidates.

    • Holbrook would be good.

He coached a two bit gold cost squad that had such a poor roster.

I would like to see what he could do with this squad.

      • He never did well with defence but.

    • Holbrook is an assistant coach,  he would not be on any list of mine.
