Optimism - 3rd time lucky?

Over the past decade, I have felt genuine optimism about the upcoming NRL season 3 times; 2010 (following the grandfinal appearance), 2018 (after finishing 4th and playing really well against Melbourne in the away final), and 2020 following the year we have just had, the development of Dylan Brown (to be aided by Sir Joseph Johns), our player acquisitions and the seemingly strong administrative position of the Club.

As we know though,  2010 was horribly disappointing and 2018 was soul destroying. Can it be a case of 3rd time lucky?

I am concerned about Moses maintaining consistency (something he did well this year) and continuing to improve. He needs to be more influential when the game is in the balance against the good sides, particularly because our forwards should compete with most packs this year.

Other than that, hopefully D Brown, Sivo and Reed Mahoney don't catch second year syndrome and all our key players have a relatively injury free year. Michael Jennings needs to contribute like he did this year too, rather than fading into retirement.

Onwards and upwards!

    • Tim mannah our of retirement?? I'm sorry dr Wong I don't like it

  • I thought our dominance in 2001 would set us up for 2002. 2001 was the one we had to lose in order to  win the following year.  No cigar! It makes it hard to get too excited about  2020 but im a tragic. I am harbouring deep down a huge expectation for this year. I would only tell my fellow tragics that though. Im sick of hoping so i decided its time to expect big things again. Such a vicious cycle haha.

  • Yes I believe it will be 3rd time lucky because all the stars are aligning for us. Of course that could be the greatest disappointment of all !!!

No wait, 30 September, 2001 is still the worst moment in my life. Nothing could be worse than that feeling.

    Ever.

    • I've always said that was the worst day of my life too Brett. I crashed my car pissed prior to the game as well. No charges were laid though. I could run really fast in my youth :) Nothing to be proud of.  I am aware!

  • What, 3rd time (un)lucky we play like shit!
