With the 9's on around this time next week I thought I'd post the squads the teams in our pool have named, as well as getting a possible general 9's thread going. Our squad as per the Eels twitter page our squad will be announced on Monday morning with members getting an email.

Personally, I love the 9's, it's good attacking football as well as finding out who the good 1v1 defenders are. I also see it as a great concept that can get developing nations involved in the sport without having to worry about the expenses of getting a large enough squad overseas.

    • I believe it's 2 of your top 5 paid players that have to be picked in the squad.

  • My final training blog covers most of the players I believe will be in the squad. I expect Lavaka and Pritchard to play and I think they will do well. The format will suit them. Watch out for Semi and Robbo in open spaces.
    • Lavaka, Radradra, Goodall, and Folau would all do well in this format. They're all tall, with Goodall being the shortest at 188cm and Lavaka being the tallest at 195cm and they're also heavy with Semi being the smallest at 105kg and Folau being the heaviest at 112kg but most importantly they're all very fast. You can't just pick a squad of big, fast wingers. A player like Kaysa Pritchard, although small is a good defender and not only does he try and put on a big shot he also has a good tackle efficiency. We should be able to field a good squad for this year.

  • How much is the prize money?
    • $2.25 million AUD, which is to be split between the teams. So I imagine there's a participation prize, and then as you progress you get more.

  •  It's not Eels related but it's good to see that the Tigers have named my partners cousin Kyle Lovett in there squad. I wish him all the best for the nines and the up coming NRL season.

  • Our old mate Willy Army is back! He's friggin' useless - great when we play the Birds, hopefully he's on deck and Ma'u can run through him all day like a stinkin' hot vindaloo through a pale white man.

Ego Marshall captaining a club with the history of the Red V - that's a joke.
