Only way is up.

If we now hav the right coach in BA then we can expect better management, better recruitment, better return from our players, better results, better quit while I'm ahead.Question is when ?

  • next year

    • Gower its all way next year

I don't think we go any better next year to

I think we come last next year to only because foran be on the side line more then playing

    • Frankie your avatar picture isn't mixing words.
    • Gday GP.
There was a four to five year buildup to us winning our first GF in the eighties, but even then in the late seventies we were either in the semi finals, or came very close to making them.
My point is we were competetive & I'm just not seeing that from this group of players to suggest we are building towards the edge that you need to compete.
Hopefully our retention & recruitment in the future will improve enough to mount an assault on this competition, deserving of this great club.
    • Our defence is ordinary because of our lack of ball control and lack of a quality kicking game. We put too much pressure on ourselves when our attack constantly lets us down. Espeacially our last tackle options. Once a team becomes confident in their attack it flows through to their defence. That isn't always the case in reverse. Take the dragons , great d but their attacks ordinary. They stay in the game offensively because Widdops short kicking games exceptional. If you strengthen either though you ultimately fix the other.
  • We should sign that Mitch Cornish from the raiders. He is a great player. Could get him for 200k
  • I have to disagree with you Frankie

The question is WHY are we the worst defensively ?

From what I have seen - it has more to do with giving the opponents extended periods of play with superior possession.

From what I have seen - Parra's enthusiasm and work rate and techniques in tackling (sandow excluded - there will always be some misses though size / not effort with sandow) are FINE

It's the lack of discipline, ball control and decision making........NOT staying in the arm wrestle but giving the opponent an easy advantage through silly, thoughtless mistakes.

I'm on record - Foran has the ability to put Parra back in the "arm wrestle" consistently with his kicking game - forcing opponents to come out from the own end deep and often - by applying pressure on opponents - that alone will force mistakes and more possession back to Parra

It has bamboozled me WHY BA cannot get disciple (dropped ball and penalties REDUCED substantially) and the kicking game sorted, so that Parra does not give EXTENDED periods of possession away - that, is my major criticism of BA. - and they are the most "coach-able" aspects of the game IMO

When you do that - give away possession repeatedly - it's only a manner of time before the defense falls apart

Given a fair share of possession and Foran to close out sets properly (unlike Norman and Sandow consistently) - this will IMPROVE Parra's "bad defense"

The 'against" column is just the low hanging fruit - but , ironically - our defense is the LEAST of our problems - I truly believe that Frankie

    ......you did ask

  • That was the moral behind the story of the young head who wished for a body, and was struck down and killed as soon as his fairy godmother granted him his wish.

  • what he said

  • Lets face it,when it comes to scoring tries we're ok ,but our defence is crap.building pressure, repeat sets and less mistakes ie better completions will give the opposition less scoring opportunities. We simply do not have the halves to play to that game plan.
