Only a Trial Game! But!

Considering the Raiders side was virtually a 'B' side with only a few first grade players I must say I was very unimpressed with the Eels fitness level, error rate and both attack and defence structures. I can only hope there is a vast improvement before round 1. In saying that however, the Raiders were allowed a try that wasnt a try but they were impressive for a young inexperienced side. I still think the Eels will make the top 8 this year in spite of tonights result. Its a trial game played in 20 minute quarters where combinations are tried. The Eels were ok but not overwhelmingly impressive. Junior Paulo, Brown, Moses, Kafusi and a few others ( who I didnt recognise) as well.

    • Ferguson has done a backflip !

      • Yea, saw that and just as well he didnt injure himself!

        • This

    • Totally agree Wong! There were plenty of positives for sure.

    • Mannah was impresive????????, i have been one of Mannah's biggest supporters on this site but sorry, he was below average tonight and on this performance should NOT be in the 17.

      • Agree! Mannah looked like hes just getting too old.

        • Certainly was well contained in the time he was on the paddock, for me it was a game I cound not get excited about. Tepai is wasted in the middle as against being able to run the edges. Marata was solid while Lane had some good runs, I also thought Peni was not as affective as he could be.

There was a lot to like with Jnr, Brown and Moses, if anything Brown over shadowed Moses for mine.. While Mahoney went well, he needs to show more variation in his attack, defence was ok,but, after watching the game, I wonder if Brown might be a better option at 9.

The first half at least showed some areas of improvement, especially with several of the top squad not available, will want to see improvements against Penrith though. Not totally dissapointed, happy in some areas but need the primary squad available for the next trial match.

It will be good when the ISP players are not part of the Wenty set up, can't come soon enough for me.

      • Sorry but Mannah

Did little more than the bare minimum given his experience and the fact that this was just a trial but somehow this warrants praise

If Timmy wants to earn his spot he needs this to be at least 5 levels below his worst and maybe he gets a bench spot

      • Thanks for your honest opion lads, I have screamed for him to be gone for years now.   I can’t believe they put the C beside his name

  • Dylan brown was impressive . Terepo good . Parry promising .  Mannah, Alvaro , terrible .

No changes to our defence structures . No new plays . Block plays and out the back . Lane never given clear ball to expose frindges .

    Lomg long season ahead
