One Last Shot - Voice your thoughts - Team for Finals

As super has said, our season is crashing and burning. While I, like many others want BA sacked now, it probably will not happen. Every person has written us off this year which is fair. Obviously we cannot just put up the white flag. Just throw the playbook out the window and let's try some shit. Change the team around. Look for the future, while also giving us a crack. How would you line us up if you were the coach. Forget that BA will not do it or will have a dum attack and defense gameplan. I will share mind as well as some thoughts on the game and their future.

1. Gutherson (I would be tempted to let him walk. I personally cannot see much improvement with him at five-eight. He as become to focused on ball playing than pushing in support of offloads which he did. Overplaying his hand. Like BA he has reached his ceiling. I don't want him as captain either. Surely RCG gets a shot. Leads the team correct and no dum errors.)

2. Sivo (ran at renoylds all night. Some horrible defence. Some some muscle to become faster.)

3. W Blake (I believe bellamy could make him one the best centres in the NRL. Actually pretty good tonight)

4. W Penisini (Future stirke centre. Tough on Opacic, but he came to the club as a depth player anyway until Jenko was suspended. He should be happy to be a back up centre to a top 6 club

5. Fergo (Probabaly leave after. More care about our coaches future)

6. D Brown (Throw the playbook out. Stop containing his abilities. His first season showed his tremendous talents. Let hive have some freedom. Stop containing him to the right hand side of the field which is clearly his weaker side. Stop making him have a run first attitutde. Have some shapes that makes him straighten the defence up)

7 Moses (Really kept us in the game at the start. Bunnies were rolling us but he kept kicking well. Funny our best player is playing with rib injuries)

8. Makatoa (Start him until RCG comes back. When RCG is back, he drops out of the side. Great defender and work horse. Help our starts to a game. Start him for 20 min and than give him another 10 min spell at the end)

9. Lussick (Seems like Mahoney season is over. Poor guy. No idea what happened to his form. Back lussick to play the 80min)

10. Paulo (He has become very lazy in defence. I cannot believe how easily midgets can tackle him to the ground 1 on 1. Literally seen people like Cook and Milford tackle him 1 on 1. How does he not break the tackle. Passing game gone MIA. Offloading game is not as effective)

11. Carty (Give him some time please BA. let him play with freedom. He is arguably our most creative player when he is on. I also notice that he applies pressure from the inside when he defends. It is something Matto doesn't do and what we desperately need to help our edge defence who seem to always be outnumbered. Will Shift into the halves if an inury occurs).

12. Niukore (Play next to D Brown. Love him. Put in effort and aggression tonight. Deserves a starting spot. Would suit D Brown game so much. He is also quick which helps our defence. Will shift into the centres if any injury occurs)

13. N Brown (Use your short passing game to your fellow forward. It is the best in the NRL. FK BA and just use it)

14. Papal'i (I think he needs to play in the middle. He is very good attacking on the edge, but I think he cannot cope with quick pace in defence. I don't think he is an 80 minute player)

15. Lane (Its hilarious. He plays decent when our team as a hole play shit. So Lane please go back to being lazy again lol)

16. Matto (He needs to provide more energy from the inside in defence. Rather him being used as a lock when N Brown needs a break. He can leave the club. Need to buy another prop leader)

17. Kaufusi (No one chased the collision better than Kaufusi tonight)

18. W Smith (Reserve half/fullback)

19. T Opacic/ Dunster (Reserve backline)

20. Hipgrave (Makatoa takes this reserve spot when Mahoney is back)

21. R Stone

I might add, with a lot of key players coming out of contract at the end of 2022, we need to organise a new coach now so the new coach can make their minds up. Sure the players would want to know as well.

  • Moses was no better than he was last night before his injury.  He was shocking.  Honestly I'd drop Gutherson and play Furgo at Fullback just to see how the fuck the old bastard goes .  Throw Gutherson on his wing or something . That whole team is rubbish so we've got nothing to lose by shaking it up . If Moses is staying then without a doubt he should be captain next year if we can't buy someone to fill that void .  At least he isn't erratic.  He's no leader or motivator by action ,  but he ain't coughing up possession at crucial times week in week out either . Guthersons a joke .

  • Re 11. I agree re Cartwright.  He needs to on the field a lot more.  He is that X factor Parra are missing.  Some of his passes were Latrell like.

  • Like I said in the other blog:

    1. Gutherson

    2. Sivo

    3.Blake

    4.Penisni

    16.Niukore

    17.Smith

We are really missing impact off the bench and I feel Papali'i will give us that. Penisini offered more in attack than Opacic and I think he's defence is just as good. Cartwright is wasted on the bench so he's been promoted to the starting side to offer some spark to the left edge.

    • I actually like that side. I've had a theory for most of the year that while Papa deserved to start, he shouldn't be. His impact off the bench at the start of the year was outstanding and we've been missing something like that since he's moved into the starting side.

Lane for me is pretty expendable once RCG is back.

      • I feel like Lanes has been good the last couple of weeks but he'd probably be the one I'd be getting rid of when RCG is back. Either him or smith.

    • I would put matto back on the bench. I would be using niukore and Carty on the edge

  • Ok I'll play - for shits and giggles

can you imagine Marta and Penisini in the centres creating havoc ? Great backline as long as the ball gets out there and Carty will see to that.
Dyl can cover the utility spot.

I just don't know what Makatoa has to do to get a run ? He's been the best forward in the lower grades for two years. Obviously not one of BAs favourites

  • We may not even make the 8. Will be lucky to win another game
