One Folau, Two Folau, Three?

A second Folau brother will be wearing Blue and Gold this weekend with the promising John Folau joining older brother Eni at the club. Folau is a backrower/centre and has been named on the Eel’s bench for this week’s opening SG Ball clash against the Tigers at Cabramatta. Middle brother Eni Folau is a member of Parramatta’s NYC squad and plays centre/wing. However, it’s younger brother John who has been regarded as the best chance of following superstar elder brother Israel into the NRL. Folau, of course, controversially quit the NRL last year to sign a three-year deal with the AFL. Indeed, media reports last year suggested that the Folau family may guide John towards the AFL after their was dissatisfaction with the way that the code handled Israel’s defection. Instead, this week’s Junior teamsheets reveal that Folau will this week debut for the Eels. Although Parramatta made the grand final of both junior leagues last year, they face a considerably stiffer challenge this year. Star Under 18’s like Jacob Gagan and Vai Toutai have been promoted straight into the NYC side, skipping their final year of playing SG Ball. saw them train at tirroul beach bbq area recently , looked good but yes all but 5 are islanders,soon we will have a full islander team inthe nrl

it starts from young,there parents see it as a way of making money, more then being a sport.

i can say on what i see in penrith where my boys play st marys ,maybe about 5% make money out of rugby league coming from the jnrs,who knows where the players go or do when they dont make it to the n.r.l?.

your guess guys.

islanders are getting more skills,and are built like bulls, and are strong and faster.

but most are better from the 5's to 12's where there build runs over young skinny guys,

but i can say they come back to the field some what, in the 15's 16's 17's.

the one thing with the skinny kids who do survive ,they get tougher and can handle the islanders.

i think its well over time for the parra and penrith jnrs bring in wieght divs, you just can't have 100kg islander running over smallerkids in year 5,6 ,7 and 8. at the least it should be in in the schools.

other wise folks all the teams that survive will be islanders.

think about it parra eels, revamp the club,to the board, you have profits in the club, a new coach,maybe a good n.rl side, now revamp the local jnrs, have a great day.

The islanders sure are making a big percentage of players now. Ray Rabbits Warren is going to have a great time wrapping his laughing gear around those names in a few years time.

This Junior Paulo is very, very good. He was SG Ball Player of the Year last year. In fact, that side's strength is undoubtedly it's props. Fraser Masinamua was very impressive in Harold Matts last year and Pauli Pauli is tank too.

It's one of the reasons I long argued for Stephen Kearney to take over. When your junior base is so heavily biased in that direction, having a figure head at the club that those players can related to can only be a positive. More importantly, though, from where I'm sitting Kearney is instigating a cultural shift that hopefully will flow down all the way through our junior grades as well. As long as everything we're hearing is not lip service, it will be the single most important thing that has happened to the club for a very long time.
