The next recruits we bring in have to be the right people. Blokes like Lomax ... physically gifted and competes hard but he won't win a comp . The fact he'd even flirt with R360 without achieving much outside rep honours tells you all you need to know . Guys like Critta fully buying into life at the Dogs and we have a bloke whoring himself out 1 year into a 4 year deal. I'm sure Ryles is well aware of this and really Lomax is the last of the recent BA recruits.
Full buy in is so important and if we continue on our path and use our cap space right we can really start competing for spots in the 8 and hopefully 4.

There a tem full of athletes the broncos and they just got momentum nd the best team in Melbourne just couldn't go with them that's the scarey bit.These are the teams we have to attempt to chase down.I think building a team like Brisbane is a tough go but getting a system up n going like what Melbourne nd Riff has is the direction we are heading in.

Melbourne had a few things that let them down. Their bench was atrocious. Kamikamica, MacDonald and Lasati had no impact. Compared to Brisbane who had Willison and Hetherington making a slight impact to rest Haas.
Also, the amount of ball in play with Brisbane's back 5 having momentum was the killer. Showed the limitations Hughes and Munster have in their kicking game. It's fine but not much finesse and power. They couldn't manage the game out of their back end and tried to kick their way out of bad field position, but the time Karapani or Mariner brought the ball back they were already on their own 35.
Their middles fatigued and the bench could not get into the game to combat it.
Athletes that was the difference that Kamikamica bombed try was all the broncs needed tht 20 after that Melbourne got no ball and it was over.
Who won the collision to people on this forum hate that line but if you look at last night whoever had the pill won the collision battle won the game.
Well all players are athletes Coryn, some better than others but the ball in play and the ability to not slow it down cost Melbourne. Came with their replacements, had no get up and go, Hughes and Munster couldn't get in position to slow it down. By the time Utoikamanu and King came back on it was too late the momentum was gone.
Brisbane had speed and Melbourne fatgued very quickly. Considering they had 2 days extra prep they fatigued quickly. Even towards the end with 5 to go, some of the urgency from players was not there.
Not like what Brisbane had you could see in that back 5 how hard they were hitting the line and guys like you mentioned Williston and Heatherington day and night better than there opposites.
You also saw it when Walsh got one on one on the edge Munster and co shitting themselves.Those outside men for the Storm were jamming inas soon as Walsh appeared anywhere near there edges.
Its system vs athletes that's how I see teams being built the latter echo Brisbane and Canberra system riff and Melbourne.
Ball in play and the errors killed Melbourne in the end.They just couldn't handle the athleticism of Brisbane when possession swung.

Hetherington and Willison like I said bench was better for Melbourne. When you bench is better it helps you in the backend when your better forwards come back refreshed. Haas came back for final 25 with momentum heavily in his favour. That freed up Walsh and Mam allowing them time to do what they needed to do. They were petrified by Mam and Walsh hesitating on the line either going out the back, short or taking the line on.
I felt that's what Parra did well against Brisbane, our kicking game from Moses stifled a lot of their momentum, when they were getting up in defence, Moses would get us out of trouble and they were stuck in their own red zone after 4 tackles.
Showed value of speed and strength over height and strength. Coates and Warbrick struggled, they targeted Howarth early as he is a liability and then even more with Wishart.
