I agree that Rugby League has changed drastically and not for the better. I think the 60's to end of 80's was the best era without doubt. The inclusion of teams like the Storm, Broncos and company and the endless additions and rule changes has stuffed it up
Monto, I would include the 90's in that mix too, maybe with the exception of 1995-1996 when there were far too many teams and the Super League war was imminent.
I'd argue that the game gradually started to decline when the 10 metre rule and 'interchange' was introduced, but this was ramped up since 2003 when Bellamy and the Storm started to bring in their cheating tactics. In addition to:
The ongoing introduction of larger players across the outside backs, making this a game for 'athletes' rather than 'players'
The advent of the video referee / bunker
The introduction ot TPA's creating an uneven playing field
"Coryn i would say stop beating a dead horse but it is so obvious it is insane. The amount of talent that cannot make it in Union. Even Fiji they do not have the resources to develop players or the money to offer them. They would jump at a minimum…"

It's a shame how much the game has lost over the years. It's becoming very repititive and boring in some aspects.
