OH Dear!

Arthur has done it again! Bragging about his defense against the Storm only to come crashing down the very next game against a real team-- not the near reserve grade side that was the  Storm. It was in the early 1970`s  that Terry Fearnley and Jack Gibson went to America and discovered that "Defence wins games- Not attack." They introduce, on their return to OZ, counting the number of tackles made by each player. That was a revolution to the reptiles of the press and reprehensible to the existing coaches. Judging by Arthur`s record these last seven or eight years, he has just seen the light!  Too late it seems.  It brings out the failure of the Chairman, CEO, and the football administrators in granting our " Future and our savior" sic, an extra year on his contract several weeks ago instead of waiting to the end of the competitive rounds. It is now looking like the disaster it was certain to be. 2021 is going to be a rerun or worse than the last seven or eight years. It is amusing to speculate that our administration acted too soon because they feared that some other club would sign Arthur!  What a good thing that would have been! Now we're stuck with him for another year! Given the disaster of last night and that more is to come from the Storm, seeking revenge--if we get to play them in the finals--and Penrith and Canberra at home and Eastes et.  Brad would be wise to call it day at the end of this season and forget his one-year extension. He has received more than enough Superannuation to satisfy the dreams of avarice.

Gould has been harsh but basically right in his criticism. To me, I think the players have realized in the last three or four weeks that they are not going to win anything again in the finals this year. Their performances have declined as a result. The two haves are showing the true effects of the extra coaching they have received Their form has declined.  It was a mistake in the first place. Another Arthur blue.

I must say that I received some schadenfreude from last night`s apocalypse. Last week the Brisbane oracle was gushing much to  Arthur`s genius in using defense this year!! Was it twenty e-mails extolling the greatness of our coach? I lost count! Sadly, the euphoria ended last night in a Bankwest thumping.

    • brissyeel. No, it is not you. I did not know that you lived in Brisbane.

  • Yeah the board never learn. They get all jizzy mid season after a couple of sprakling wins and sign Arthur for more years. Let him finish the job THEN sign him for more.

Yes I get disappointed in myself but if the side is going to get beaten in effort I prefer they get caned on the scoreboard. I'm hoping it really hurts their pride. Like when Kane was playing shit 2 years ago and his dad said he was ashamed of his own son. That shit hurts. And sometimes people need to be shamed to reach their potential.

The players have to read the news rsurely? They gotta hear Matty Johns said they open like peas. What does Waqua think when he  reads what everyone is saying online about him? How much everone wants him gone? Doesn't he just say 'fuck this' get out the clippers, shave off the mop, look into his eyes in the mirror and say "LIFT CUNT!" Maybe not. Is Arthur able to pull him aside and say your defense sucks rod, I'm sorry it's partly my fault for not doing something earlier but you're fucking the whole team and if you don't perform 3 miracls this week you're out.

I feel for Fergo man. Save Fergo. Swap Fergo and Sivo so at least all the crap can be on the one side and hopefully can help cover.

I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. Just so displeased.

      • Complete rubbish. You know all about it, do you? Your history as a businessman enables you to pontificate this smokescreen and background noise. Perhaps you can explain why it is that small- businesses in Australia, run by these wonderful businessmen, have a failure rate of about 100%, given five to seven years?

They populate the boards of football clubs not to improve the success rate of the teams but to bask in the reflected glory such a position brings--small things attract those with small minds. They know next to nothing about football.

Mercifully, they don`t last that long. Their incompetence forces a hasty retreat.

    • wazzamatta :  I know how you feel. If you are an Eels supporter that feeling comes with the territory. Thirty-odd years without success and not an inkling of improvement in sight There is nothing that I can do or say that will ease your displeasure. I would suggest that you keep contributing to the site---at least it will get it off your chest and may, just may, strike a chord with the monkeys who run the asylum.

  • Fellas i reckon Poppa nailed it. Maybe the board thinks BA deserves a shot at the GF with a good side, and have given him another 2 yrs to achieve this dream. BA has turned the Eels from a basket case to a team that can sit comfortably in the top 8, which means finals. He now has 2 yrs to take his team to the top level.

I personally doubt BA has the smarts to take a team to a GF, BUT i believe he has earn,t the right to giv it a shot. And to be honnest i think a majority of Eels fans also think he deserves another 2 yrs.

I also think this team is only an above average team.  We are playing as good as we can, our forwards are as good as most packs, our 6,7 and 9 are less then ordinary, Waqa and both wingers a struggling. We are short 2 or 3 game winners.
