Observations

These are my observations of the Parra Warriors match.

Could someone please tell me what the three first penalties, all against Parra, were for? Have seen them replayed and still have no idea.

Folau is not first grade material. What I remember about him is that I cannot remember him in the match. Believe he swapped with Taka, who went to the wing, to get more involved but did nothing, this was his big chance to impress but blew it.

Sandow and Tepai played as if they were injured, unfortunately replacements will be hard to find. Both lower grades were flogged and few players stood out. The only notables were in the Wenty side where Goodall played centre and did some good things and showed more speed than I thought he had and Ualesi who was only forward that showed any ticker, Goodall could replace Falou and Ualesi replace Tepai. Unfortunately the halves were average with Matterson better than Kelly but his defence left a lot to be desired.

Ma'u was absolutely brilliant and in everything and Gower solid as always.

In the forwards the props were solid without being outstanding, Watmough is not worth what we are paying him and Peats and IDG didn't appear to do much. Regarding Peats went off concussed and two doctors disagreed whether should go back on. Surely if a disagreement  we should err on the side of player safety shouldn't we!

Hoppa still not convinced about him at fullback, Morgan didn't do much, Norman did some good things but still becomes the deer in the headlights occasionally, Taka made some breaks but also some bad reads in defence and Robinson still rocks and diamonds. Believe we need more speed in backs and a fast fullback wouldn't go astray.

  • I'd love to answer your first question but I got nothing.

  • Can't agree on your falou point, he played outside Morgan and not Taka.
He played decent on an edge that was constantly broken and not by his fault.
    • But did you remember him in the match, really I cannot remember one hit up, run or tackle. I know he must have done all three during the match but just can't remember.

    • I do, cuz I was looking for him.
Still, pretty hard to be noticed on the right wing when your team has no ball.
BA should have played him at right center with Reece on the wing, he is much more suited to center and could have helped Sandow, it would have also freed up Reece to do cover tackles with his speed.
    • I noticed he made some good defensive reads, at one time shutting down a try. I think the issue for him was that sandow was less involved so morgs and falou seemed quiet.
I noticed Norman on both sides of the field trying to step things up but Morgan seemed mistime his runs and Norman ran out of space and options.
  • I thought Folau was very slow after making a tackle & getting back on side he made a couple of hard tackles but fell off a couple too
