  • Besides the fact that nobody from Eels HQ will see your request, by the rulebook we need to send a certain number of top 25 paid players and some other criteria.
  • its a 2.6 mil price pool, parra earns 100K just for participating

  • I don't get this argument. Let's just kill off the nines now shall we? It's a wonderful advert for the game and I for one love seeing a mix of current and future players. It pisses me off when coaches send piss poor teams to these things. It displays a here and now approach to the game and not a forward thinking one. The nines drags in a lot of non traditional footy fans much like T20 in cricket. But the bellamys and the bennetts of the world are too short sighted to see this is more beneficial for the growth of the game. And before you ask would I rather win the nines or the Comp then obviously I would prefer to win the comp, but if your depth and coaching is so inadequate that losing a player kills your chances, you're not in the running anyway
  • Totall agree with you SDD, id prefer the coach give a lot of the fringe players a go here, the ones that might struggle to get a call up early and the young blokes, give them a taste of a big crowd, give them the experience of the whole weekend, use it for a few of these blokes to gain enthusiasm and the rest.

Id be keeping our valuable players away from the 9s, certainly injury prone ones.

    • Disagree snakeuardo the nines will become a showcase early in the season for the NRL. Top players need to be involved not fringe and young guns. Remember how the NYC was originally marketed... "See the young guns of rugby league" .. We all know how that went. I think the nines is importNt for the games development especially in the developing pacific nations and further towards a second New Zealand team. Clubs need to realise the game is bigger than the next season or themselves the same as players do
  • I think many people forget that you are required to take a certain number of your top 25 players. It's a requirement for the tournament.

    • Hi Ricky, I'm clueless on lots of things salary cap, but can I ask please...if a player was to obtain a season ending injury, ( fingers crossed that doesn't happen again) is said players wage still counted toward club salary cap?
After all it technically is an entirely different competition.
    • No difference if a player is injured at training/9/regular game - they all insured. Clubs can apply for cap relief only in the instance that they run out of squad players to cover Injury (like we did last year)
  • If someone gets injured the chances are they would of anyway during the season. I hate the arguement of injuries.
