NSW Selectors get it WRONG

Well how surprised are you with the NSW side this is awesome i like how the players are dropped after one bad performance yet selectors have been getting it wrong for well this will be the 5th year and they are still there.

My team would be this not that it really matters we need points cooper has not been able to stop inglis anyway no one will

1. Hayne / Dugan Due to Judicary gidly if dugan injured
2. Gordan / goal kicker
3. Jennings  try scoring freak
4. Idris  /  Raw but can win you a game
5. Morris  / try scoring freak
6. Sutton  /  future NSW 5/8
7. Kimmorly / best halback we have
8. White  /  ok
9. Ennis / give him no creative options he has none anyway lol
10. Weyman ok
11. Heighington I think he deserves a shot
12. Waterhouse/ Hindy Hindy my fav player but getting on
13. Gallen crazy bugger

14.Farra  WOW a hooker to replace a hooker
15.Lewis  Utility value also
16. Mannah  rampaging bull this year
17. Leroy Lahs  a giant who caused QLD a few problems in game 1

  • Ennis is lucky to be there and although he can play 80 mins he always gets a break well for NSW and Farrah can cover the halves (not so good but he can) so true but i think sowards size has him missing out or he would be to much of a target thats why hes not there i would assume i didn't want to have two inexperienced halves so i went with sutton and Kimmorly gordan defends better than merrit
  • You have White in the team who is simply not a good player.
Gordon not up to origin standard.
Sutton has not played on the big stage often enough and goes missing when the chips are down... Shouldn't be anywhere the rep scene for a while
Heighington is a very good player.... but there are 7 or 8 backrowers ahead of him.

Steve Roach was saying the blues need to pick a team that can score a lot of points.

I just can't agree with this mentality. Regardless of who you pick, QLD will kick well, run the ball up well, get repeast sets and get 3 tries a game on average before you take into account the individual brilliance of Inglis, Slater and Thurston.

The key is to pick the right defensive outfit. One that will not gift Inglis room, that will cover the infeild chip to Slater, and a team that will not fall for the Thurston show and go.

I think Idris and Jennings will just gift too many tries. Have to pick a team with simply no wekanesses in D.

    My backline is:

    1. Hayne
    2. Morris
    3. Cooper
    4. Scott or Lewis
    5. Tahu
    6. Barret
    7. Pearce

Less points ine centres than the team u picked but much better halves IMO and centres that will crowd Inglis all day
    • Um yeah sorry i went with the players that are in form
Gordan is killing it in nrl week in week out but he is a 90% goal kicker that s all
both dragon center nice one all D and no attack
Sutton has not played on the big stage often enough and goes missing when the chips are down... Shouldn't be anywhere the rep scene for a while SO WHY PICK PEARCE (Pearce looked awesome when the sharks gave it to them)
Souths are playing well and so is sutton

In the end it dont really matter can we really beat them before the series is over????
  • no offense a team that would never win lol the team ill pick is
    1.Hayne
    2.Dugan
    3.Tahu
    4.Idris
    5.Morris
    6.Barrett
    7.Kimmorly
    8.Weyman
    9.Ennis
    10.Leroy Lahs
    11.Hindmarsh (C)
    12.Cregh
    13.Gallen
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    14.Gidley
    15.Manah
    16.O'Doneld
    17.Waterhouse
i think this is the NSW team i like and no exceptions dno but that's my opinion lol
  • Pearce played all season behind a beaten pack last year and can keep his head held high.,... gave 100% unlike sutton.... and if form is your criteria, why not Soward over Sutton

I hate having both Copper and Scott in the side. I would prefer attack any day of the week.. But we simply have to stop Inglius, Thurston and Slater. Especially when Slater has a tendeacy for errors when things not going well and Inglis goes quiet with limited oppotunity.

I agree series is over. But the backline I picked (and the backline the selectors picked) should have us in the game with 20 mins left.... then maybe the football gods can shine on us:)
    • Not saying his not a great player i like him think he is awesome

And i said the Selectors don't seem to pick smaller guys at least i could drop Gordan as a winger and goal kicker then.

Well the selectors have been right before i can t remember when that was but i m sure they were lol

Did Cooper shut down Inglis in the 1st game (don't think so)

Will need more than the football gods
      • Cooper and Inglis play on opposite sides.
        • even more so no reason to have him then how are you saying he is going to stop him from the opposite side of the field
          • Did I say he had to stop Inglis. I said pick a team to stop the Individual brilliance of Slater, Inglis and Thurston.

Look at Lyon who is considered one of the best defenders in the league. In the first origin Inglis carved up Idris and Lyon. When Inglis scored or set up teh long range try Lyon was sliding, Idirs was up and in and Hayne was standing back (probably confused what to do next). Defensive configurations are so important. On this occassion we had 3 different players using 3 different defensive styles stadning shoulder to shoulder...... Last time I checked we don't have enough points in any NSW team to counteract the leaking of points like this.
  • I also don't understand why they still can't pick Dugan as winger. I think he would still be good. Look at Jarryd when he was wing. The only problem with this team is Idris he has shown that he is effective in attack but he drops the ball too many times and lets in far too many tries. Take out Waterhouse and put in Brett White and there is almost a perfect team
