So here are some stats from our players in round 1 worth noting.
Ky Rodwell: 167 metres, 1 tackle break, 42 tackles in 66 mins. Not bad but yeah what you would expect from a workhorse like Rodwell.
Jirah Momoisea: Started on an edge, 37 metres, 1 tackle break, 19 tackles in 50 mins. I understand it might not have been a game for the edge back-rowers but this is poor. From a player with constant raps Momoisea is doing nothing to convince me he warrants a spot in this team.
Toni Mataele: 101 metres, 2 offloads, 36 tackles, 4 missed. A lot better than his partner Momoisea on an edge, but shows he is not ready for top grade just yet, seems his defence needs work and that is ok.
Ofahiki Ogden: 112 metres, 1 tackle break, 2 offloads, 17 tackles in 41 mins off the bench. Not bad considering the limited minutes.
Makahesi Makatoa: Got the start as he didn't play Thursday, 183 metres, 2 tackle breaks, 2 offload, 33 tackles. Pick of the forwards.
Jake Arthur: 173 metres, 1 offload, 2 tackle breaks.
Zac Cini: 80 metres, 16 tackles, 3 missed, 7 tackle breaks. Defence could be his issue at the moment.
Sam Loizou: Was originally on the bench but started due to Lumelume's call up. 132 metres, 3 tackle breaks, 1 offload, a try assist. Much better from Loizou who is in his last year to prove anything to the club.
Jayden Yates: 66 metres, 26 tackles, 4 tackle breaks. Not bad from the little fella in only 52 mins of play.
Matthew Komolafe: 107 metres, 7 tackles, 3 missed, 3 tackle breaks and an offload. He also had a few errors and penalties, not great impression for Komolafe.

If you watch the highlights, Cini missed two tackles lead to two tries.
Coryn, does that mean you saw the stats or the circumstances that led to the missed tackles......asking for a friend?
I mentioned that could be an issue, i believe it is the reason Lumelume was picked for Round 1 over him.
Matt Doorey got criticised from people i speak to and i thought he was pretty good. He was good in defence, attacking wise he was OK but great in defence. That is what sets him apart from say Mataele who will get there but not quite yet.
As usual statistics mean little and the first stat I notice was no score 'i.e. Parra lost this match against Canberra.....why would not the blogger make mention of that.
More importantly we lost 3 of our junior games as well as the Cup, this is a bigger story than the stats, 60's was of the view that Yates was one of the best on ground.
I would hate to think you blokes could find yourselves in a position picking anything on just stats.
Get a match report and get some comments on the fucking game for Christ sake!
PS Kye Rodwell would be next up on those stats but he has proven over and over again that he is not quite there!. Matele misses 4 tackles but shows he is not ready on that basis, who makes that judgement, not the bloody statistician. Stats are a tool to help, not to decide.
😂 🔥
Poppa, it's a fair point. Did the blogger actually watch the whole Cup game. Then to double down with assessments of players. He's a talent.
I haven't seen much of Cini but the little I have reminds me of another Zac in Lomax. Similar build the way he moves and also seems quite strong.
When he learns to make better decisions in D he'll end up a descent NRL standard player

I would have Rein on the bench to give Hodgson a rest I thought Hodgson looked fatigued in the 2nd half, he struggles to play 80 mins.
Russell a straight swap with LumeLume, Momoisea gets dropped
I think Momoisea jumps Makatoa purely on the need of playing on an edge. BA is using Murchie as our main middle until Matterson is back, therefore doesn't want to use Murchie on an edge unless aboslutely necassary, like in Round 1 when he was placed there when Carwright had to go to Centre and Momoisea aswell when Lumelume and Penisini went off for HIA. But he will keep Momoisea if Cartwright or Doorey go down, it wont effect our middle rotation.
Plus if Makatoa got no mins i doubt he would get some this week unless we are up by a bit or get massive injuries. I believe it would be worthwhile just having JA or Rein on the bench as cover and they do not get on than a Prop.
