NSW Cup: Rd.5 vs Newtown Jets

G'day guys! Pretty ordinary conditions out at Henson Park today. The rain that has been coming down for the last 24 hours has finally ceased its down pour but the field will be greasy and there is more than a hint of a breeze.

A couple of changes today for Wenty with comeback kid Richie Fa'aoso starting in the #24 for Peni Terepo who remains in contention for a first grade spot. Mid-season recruit Beau Henry will make his club debut for Wenty from the bench with Nick Kassis making way for him.

  • damn looks like it will be Faraimo on one wing on monday.
  • I'm tipping a crowd of 8972 today, especially with the interest in Fa'aoso and Henry.
    • A bit optimistic given the weather today! :P

Choc and Danny Wicks are in attendance though!

    • And I reckon there'll be a bloke that rides his bike around the ground every time Newtown score a try and by about the 60th minute he'll be falling off the bike.

The good ol' 8972 crowd at Henson.

  • They're worth the price of admission.
  • Wenty to receive frm the kick off.

MAtterson fields the ball and uses Alvaro for the first hit up, a familiar sight by now. Next up is Fuss! Solid first up run. He comes back for a second run to take Wenty into the Newtown half and Kelly will send up a midfield bomb on the last. It is well taken near the sideline for the Jets and their winger immediately hits the deck to avoid getting bundled into touch.

  • Good first set of defence for Wenty.

The come away with possession on their 30m line and some solid dummy half work gets them on the roll forwards before Quinlan grasses a bullet pass from Kelly on the sweep..........

Newtown work the ball into Wenty's half and pick up a belated penalty, first of the game, for a high shot from Goodall. Not much in it but probably warranted the call.

Gorman is in trouble after a run from the prop Houma for the Jets. Was there a raised arm there? Gorman struggles to get to his feet and Wenty are pinged for holding down in the ruck, unrelated mind you.
