NSW Cup: Rd.13 vs Mounties

Another tough match for Wenty after the belting the received at the hands of the Wests-Tigers last week as they take on the third placed Mounties.

With Fabian Goodall playing in the NYC last night it seems likely that Henry Rawalui will move into the starting team from the extended bench to replace him.

Unless there are more changes to the starting team one of Foran, Maliota, Alvaro, Mataele and Howard will have to drop off from the remaining extended bench.

  • Hopefully this is correct...

Rawalui replaces Goodall on the wing
    Foran replaces Gorman at halfback
    Gorman replaces Jones at hooker
Jones moves back to the bench utility role

Still unsure who drops off the bench.

  • I believe Danny Howard is the one to make way from the bench.

Interestingly, if you recall back to the preseason there was an article about two Canadian players that Parra were mentoring under an international development program. It looks like the one that stayed on in Australia, Chris Chalmers, is warming up in #24.

I can spy Pewhairangi, Rawalui, Morgan, Toutai and Faraimo so I'm not sure if he is getting a run or is just on standby.

    • Or #24 could be Jack Butler-Fleming. At this point I have no clue.

  • Ken Edwards and Justin Hunt are in attendance as spectators.

  • When's kick-off, oh intrepid, 40/20 Vision?

    • Imminent champ, players are taking the field right now.

Wenty will be kicking off to get the game underway.

  • Foran takes the kickoff as Fui and Ben Smith lead the chase. Mounties shift the ball to their left edge early in the opening set but Wenty mark up well.

Play is called back after an offload was thrown simultaneously to a held call and Mounties fire off an ordinary kick of the next play.

Pewhairangi rounds up the ball on the full and directs Faraimo into the oncoming chasers. Wenty settle for a simple set with a strong charge by Moi Moi on the fourth tackle giving Matterson plenty of space to dab in a nice kick.

Unfortunately Wenty concede the first penalty of the game in defence and Mounties bring play into Wenty's half.

  • Mounties don't make many metres in their first three tackles and look for a right edge shift on the fourth to ignite their attack. Wenty mark up well but do not have to make a tackle as the ball is spilled by Matt Allwood.

Wenty scrum 10m out from their goal line.

  • Morgan takes the hit up from the scrum and Wenty receive a very soft penalty for a hand on the ball.

Play resumes on halfway with a hit up to Moi Moi.

Smith throws a short ball to Lasalo who takes the tackle before Matterson redirects play from the right to the left.

Wenty run the ball down the left on the last and their are some impressive hands on show before Moutnies bring the ball down for a turnover.

  • Spaggs is here to,
    watching.
