Success across all grades - NSW Cup & SG Ball blog

Eels success through the grade have been great. I understand NRL is the main team and have not had the best season so far, but we have been great in other teams.

In Tarsha Gale and Lisa Fiola which is the 2 female junior competition, both teams have made it to the Grand Final after beating bulldogs today. I don't follow it closely to give any update on players but that's good work by the female teams. I know dogs were favourites in one of the competition so for eels to beat them is amazing.

In SG ball tomorrow we verse Roosters in the semi final in order to qualify for the Grand Final. The boys have slacked off recently so need to make sure they lift again to win the game. After all they finished first (undefeated) during the league stage.

Jersey Flegg won today as well. So they sit 6-1 with the loss coming in round 2. They have one game against Manly postponed. They currently sit 3rd but if they win their game against Manly who sit 13th out of 14, they will be coming 1st.

In NSW cup we are currently smashing the bunnies. Both teams have many injuries in FG and Cup are weak but eels depth is just too good. Eels up 32-6 at the 35th minite as I type this. If Eels go on to win this game they will be sitting second with a record of 6-1-1 with both non wins coming with under strength teams

    • Papalii, Volkman and Hawkins have combined for really well in attack as eels scored plenty of points. Their kicking, running and passing game have been exceptional.
    • Samrani has been very strong. Runs hard and defends well. Just shows good signs of an athletic backrower.
    • Mataele and Matto have been strong in the middle. Both had a poor moment in defence where after an offload late in the tackle they took to long to get back into the defensive after the tackle. Particular Matto. Other than they have been very good.
    • Nanva has been strong too.
    • Keir has been strong in attack and defence.
    • Late in the half, Loizou went off injured which pushed Keir to centre and Matto to backrow.
    • Thanks for the precise points. I thought the volkman and Hawkins combo would be a good one. Samrani is maturing well.

      • I really like Samrani. Just hope we don't persist with at centre long term as I cannot see a future in the NRL there for him. He has all the traits to play backrow. He is even a good kick option inside red zone if you can land a kick on top of the opposition halves. He is strong in contact in both attack and defence. He runs good lines too.

    • We've seen the majority of players you've named play NRL and they are dog shit.

      • We have heard majority of your comments and they are dog shit so ...

        • You are so right E A

        • Yours are nothing riveting.

  • 44-20 Eels lead, 8 mins to go

  • 50-20 FT

  • Great batch of juniors coming through
