Anyone watch this. I thought Kent made some good course moments about the harshness of the Montoya suspension of 4 weeks for a homophobic slur but Tedesco got off with just a fine for a racial slur. Just another inconsistency from the NRL.

He originally denied it but later admitted it and issued an apology and got a fine. I think Montoya is being harshly treated in comparison for something said in the heat of the game compared to a snide comment made on a night out.

I know we are living in a different world from 30 years and I also believe there is no place for words like this in today's society however this was not an attack on a gay man as that would definitely not be exceptable but a stupid comment in the heat of the moment.
Compare this to Tedesco who saw an Asian lady and made a comment about her being Asian (squid games) which is a direct attack on a person's appearance/ethnicity
I wonder how it would go down if Tedesco called one of the islander players "coconut" on the field.

I agree with Reedy's comments. The consistency is bad, but I think they got the suspension right in this case and got it wrong for Tedesco etc. The game needs to come down hard if they want to stamp this stuff out.
