After an incredible start to the NRL 2018 season the hierarchy of the NRL is seriously considering a name change for future vision of the sport. It appears that after some serious discussions and considerations that the game we love will no longer be called the ‘National Rugby League’ but it will known as the NPL enabling the acronyms to be better suited to the future in which the game is heading. Though nothing is currently set in concrete but it is more than likely the the NRL will be known as the NPL ‘National Penalty League’ perhaps as soon as 2019. It is estimated that the current penalty count after 2 rounds stands at a total of 286 penalties averaging 17 penalties per game. It is believed these figures will better reflect this new name change for future generations of sport lovers.
