NRL NON MANDATORY PLAYER VACCINATION!

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this.

Personally, I think the NRL has made this soft decision due to the large % of  Polynesians in the NRL and some of them seem to be against the vaccination. Surely if fans wanting to attend a stadium must be vaccinated so should players. Also, most airlines are only allowing fully vaccinated people to travel meaning unvaccinated players will not be allowed to travel interstate or overseas.

Another question. Do you think players' contract value will vary due to their vaccination choices? If so, do you think non-vaccinated players will change their minds regarding vaccination if it results in a 20-25% lower contract?

  • The reality is, State Premiers control the borders. If they decree that you must be fully vaccinated to enter the state (but you aren't ) then the club can't be expected to carry you and make special arrangements for you. We've all had enough time to consider our positions re vaccinations. Everyone has a choice. But choices have consequences.
If you're ineligible to play a game because of your personal vaccination choice then you should not be paid for that choice. If it's an unsustainable choice (as in you can't realistically participate in your team's premiership campaign over the course of the year) then it's ground for termination.
I've no sympathy for anyone who loses their job because they refuse a vaccine.

    • Thats ridiculous and discrimination. People have a choice Muttman

      • Say that to all the health care professionals who have lost there job or were made to vaccinate.

        •

I might be wrong but isn't the flu shot mandatory to work in aged care? If so, why should covid vaccination be any different?

          • I don't think the flu shot is mandatory in all aged care facilities. I think its up to the individual facility. The flu shot has had more long term research then the covid shots I think but I could be incorrect.

            • Flu jab is mandatory for all nursing homes, all geriatric wards in nsw & most EDs. You have the choice to say no but you will be redeployed to ensure you're not putting others at risk due to your choice

          • I work in Aged Care and its pretty simple. Aged care workers are care givers and if they don't get the jab they put lives at risk which goes against their role of giving care.

When you have a headache  you take an aspirin and I bet you don't question what is in the tablet.  Even when you open a tin of soup, you don't question what chemicals or preservatives are in them.

          • It's also mandatory to have your child vaccinated for them to attend school. Vaccination mandates aren't new. They've been around for decades.

        • Its very sad and wrong that they've lost their job and wrong. Its not my fault Brad but those who have forced this upon them. They are the ones who should say what your inferring.

          • I'm not saying it's your fault at all. These blocks get to travel, stay in good accommodation plus earn a massive pay check. Why shouldn't they have to be vaccinated to do there job. 120 staff members from port base hospital had to quit because they refused to get it. The point I'm trying to make I guess is it should be mandatory fir everyone or no one.
