NRL hates the Eels

I have on good word, that the NRL pretty much prevented us from getting Jarryd Hayne

- NRL wouldnt tell us how much we had in the cap for next season, so we only offered the 800k we knew we had

- Now that Hayne signed with the Titans the NRL has told the club that we have 1.8 million in the cap for next season, could have easily matched the Titans offer and bought some players, NRL has a serious vendetta against the Eels

FUCK THE NRL

  • Mate i think you've got this twisted around a bit.

Don't doubt for one second that if Brad really wanted Jarryd he would have upped the offer big time and shown a lot more interest, its more than clear that Brad wanted to go in another direction.

    • Nope. Jarryd signed before we could make a counter offer after being told to sharpen our pencils. Hayne wanted to (was advised) to accept quickly before he was in a position of potentially saying no to an Eels counter offer. Still glad he is a Titan.

    • In what world is 800k a token offer? That's too many coins to be a token. It's also unlikely to be a coincidence that Hayne was offered the same amount as Foz's newly available base salary. That points to, not some token offer, which is a fools interpretation, but BA offering onmy what he knew he had. It's likely BA was not in a great negotiating position.
  • Better off without him
  • we wanted hayne cause it would be nice to have no way in hell we should have payed 1.2 mill for foran we learnt that lesson gave jarryd a reasonable offer he refused so move on if titans are dumb enough to have such a big space in there cap gone good for everyone else watch the titans miss the finals

  • I agree with everyones statements, but the only reason Hayne didnt sign with us was because we werent sure if we could match the Titans offer without moving players on, I am sure if the club new we had 1.8 million the Titans offer would have been matched and Hayne would be playing for the Eels

  • Parra just offered what they thought Hayne was gonna offer, who cares let's move on
  • Move on guys, Arthur wants players to play for parra and not for money ! Jarryd wants the money only and he's shown his true colours ,we've dodged a massive bullet, why would you buy Jarrod Hayne when we have French , guth , and Norman.... I think Jarrods hurting more than parra are !
  • How about that. Fancy the NRL was actually doing the Eels a favour in coercing the Princess to reluctantly accept a measly $500k more per season to join the Titans & here we all r thinking that the NRL was being difficult.

Poor Princess having to dismiss his beloved Eels & his adoring fans & endure the personal heartache of playing elsewhere for 2 whole seasons all because of a lousy $1M. Just gut wrenching. BA should be more compassionate.

  • Does anyone honestly think that when Jarryd left for the NFL that BA spent countless nights struggling to sleep?
Can you imagine Hayne in our current squad and with our current team ethos and culture?

I am so glad that we didn't step back three years.
    Well done BA.
Thankyou NRL, if indeed your word is correct, Lurker?
