To me, the NRL needs tradition as Kent said on NRL 360 last night, he is 100% right. Brent 'Idiot" Reid, the man who said Felise Kaufusi is not a pest and does not do anything wrong to be targeted and a Queenslander says we've had it long enough and should share it. Right, listen here you four eyed little prick, would the AFL move the GF from Melbourne if not for COVID? It would never of been brought up. The fact we will host the NRL GF at the biggest stadium, in the state with the most NRL teams is disgraceful.
I understand the thought process from the NRL not bowing down to the government, and the government atm need to do what they can to keep the best events in Sydney in relations to sports. But the fact Peter V'landy's, the man who took on Melbourne racing as they were the pinnacle of horse racing and believed it too, taking them on and making Sydney as competitive and attractive to the best jockey's, trainers and horses as Melbourne is a feat, he hates Melbourne V'landy's. But to think he will go into a bidding war with Melbourne bidding for it makes my skin crawl and cannot believe it will happen.
There is no denying the NRL have been kind to QLD for the last few years, and they do a lot for the game. But i love the tradition and GF feeling with 83,000 fans (compared to only 50,000) with markings on the field. That is an NRL GF, moving it like a super bowl kind of thing is just plain stupid, some here will love it and each to their own. I understand the NRL shouldn't bow to the government either, but NSW has had some recent conflicts, granted V'landy's said last night what they are asking for is only 1% of the budget, but at least it is going towards things that the state needs, well we think anyway.
NRL i think would like to keep it in Sydney, V'landys is a Sydney boy through and through no way he would deep down want to. Abdo, to me is an arrogant, oblivious and soft adminstrator, would not trust him running my bath to be fair so he will suck up to QLD if they do to him, V'landys wont fall for that but i hope he can come to an agreement as does Perrottet, fix Penrith and maybe Leichhardt and then do the other two in later date.
The Grand Final belongs to Sydney and should stay in Sydney.

Personally I don't care where the GF is played, provided the bar fridge is full of cans, I get a full day's TV coverage and 3 games to watch.
But, I disagree with how V'Landys is handling this. He will lose in the court of public opinion, which is hard to do against a politician.
I'm no fan of Gollum 'Mad Rooter' Perrottet... but I think he's right on this... regardless of what deal was done / handshake etc. $800M... almost a billion friggin $ for what, 3 footy grounds? C'mon... if that is seriously the best use of tax payer $ with all the countless issues in education, aged care, hospitals, infrastructure, disaster relief, COVID relief etc then I'm not here.
PVL is coming across as just an absolute toad... drunk on power and up himself... give me my tax payer money or I'll shift the GF - piss off. He's not a politician and does not control the public purse... pull your head in and while you're at it... fark off back to horses full time.
Look at Brooky now, it is a lot better than it used to be, apparently they are still yet to develop Brooky though, so what else do they need to do? Cronulla was closed for 2 years and looks practically the same?
Honestly Perrottet has been a massive disappointment to me, i hailed him as a star premier in the making, but he seems very bias to mates and soft to them also. Suprised he is so stern with V'landys on this yet let Matt "should be tried for treason" Kean and Stuart "SFS golden boy" Ayers.
Though i agree that state should spend money on stadiums and sports, the whole deal with stadiums can be done over 5 years or so not straight away, surely they can do a deal til 2050 GF's with Brookvale, Shark Park, Leichhardt and Penrith over 3-5 years.
The state should have sold off Homebush to the highest bidder, made Parramatta a 40,000 seat stadium and the SFS a 65,000 seat stadium.
Will, that money had already been budgeted to be spent on Accor Stadium, but PVL convinced Gladys that money should be spent on suburban grounds instead.
