NRL eels team page

A new photo list of contracted players has been put up on the eels web site as above.

It shows 25 NRL players, not including Michael Jennings , Zero Tackle shows the following players still off contract  Josh Hoffman, Michael Jennings, Greg Leleisiuao, Matt McIlwrick.

MJ is on rep duties and the contract to be confirmed then.  If he signs along with Matterson that takes the contracted numbers to 27, leaving space perhaps for development players along wit the NRL requirement of having 29 players by 29th March, and 30 June.

  • It doesnt work

  • What is interesting is that they have listed Mitch Moses as a 5/8 & Dylan Brown as a halfback. It's probably jsut an oversight ... probably.

      • I think he will be eventually, but not yet. In some ways 5/8's are apprentice halfbacks in the modern game.

    • I find the notion that Dylan Brown is a better dominant half than MM is overreach.

Dylan who is one of my favourite players is an absolute talent. Thing is he is full of potential and talent but still has a lot of learning to do and experience to gain.

No way is he ready to take over from MM at this point.

Mitchell is the Dally M half of the year

  • I'm sure Matt McIllwrick has retired and doubt GL will be re-signed. Another good centre would be welcome.

    • Glenn, it was announced earlier this week that he had retired, I feel the same with GL, a great attacking player but has not developed his defence, despite many opportunities.  Unless that happens, he will only ever be a reserve grade player.

As for centres, lets not forget that Taka is still with us next season and in that time Parry has another year to consolidate in his game as well.  MJ is expected to sign a 2 year deal on return from rep duties along so he gets his spot back.
