This comment is was printed in the Daily Telegraph hard copy today (Sunday) further down in the article headed Cheerleaders out of step at the Eels ........... " To improve pre - game entertainment and value for fans , the NRL is looking at reintroducing three grades of football on game days this season " .,......,.,,,,,,,,,............. I know I would choose the old system of 3 grades playing same day over loss of cheerleaders regardless of motive. Imagine under 20 / 23 's first game ( 3rd grade ) starting around 11.00 am ( on a Sunday of course otherwise on other days first game starts 4 hours before NRL match kicks off ) followed by NSW Cup ( 2nd or reserve grade ) starting around 1.30 pm and then the NRL starting from 4 pm . What value for money !!! And the lower grades will get a start every week as long as the NRL season continues through COVID presence !!!

The question is can the pitch hold up after 2 games? There were some shocking pitches in the 80's
Of course . It was used by various clubs last year and turf could be replaced within a few days mid week as required . The old days where players played on dry grass and thorns abundant like still happens now in some country ovals is finished thanks lucky stars !!!
What was old, and drew the crowds, is new again.
Parra fan on The Hill you may be right, the old hard as cement clay pitches could take it, but these new soft pitches may suffer.
That said Magic round holds 8 games in 3 days at Suncorp and seems to cope.
[Edit] I would go for 12.00, 2.00 and 4.00. Assuming we are talking day games.
(Edit) Better to leave an extra hour before main game in case ambulance on field holds up play for a considerable time ??? Channel 9 and it's viewers have no patience holding up the 6 pm news Lol .
Mmmmmmmm - NAH - fuck Channel 9. Heehee.
Rabbits will need his beauty sleep by 6 pm unless he has retired from channel 9 .
Rabbits could do a Rip Van Winkle and sleep for the next 20 years and it sure as hell is NOT gong to do anything to improve his looks, nor will it improve his pathetic calling of a game these days.
Demented Old Fart should have retired years ago - can't call a match anymore, can't keep pace with the game, doesn't know who the players are half the time.
Reed Mahoney goes in for great tackle - "OOOOOH, look at that big hit from Nathan Brown."
On the up side we could make Rabs call all 3 games and he would not last another week in the commentary box lol.
Lol . Actually Sir Col I would still put up with listening to Rabbits if G Gould left channel nine . Listening to Goose raises my blood pressure severely Lol .
That is provided you get allocated Saturday or Sunday matches. We cop an unusual high number of Thursday and Friday night matches which means you wont get the 3 grades.
Kerry why would you not be able to start earlier games say 4 hours or more before main game on Thursday or Friday night ? One reason I think kills the idea is until mid season ( May to July only ) the daytime temperatures up north in QLD will be scorchers before main games start in the evening . Too hot for lower grades !!
