- NRL gender adviser Catharine Lumby has demanded Jarryd Hayne ‘stand aside’ after the Parramatta veteran was this weekaccused of sexual assault during his stint in the NFL.

A Santa Clara woman has filed a civil complaint against Hayne relating to an alleged incident in December, 2015 while he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
The lawsuit alleges Hayne had ‘nonconsensual sexual intercourse’ with the unnamed woman and also includes claims of sexual battery, gender violence, infliction of emotional distress and negligence.
The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office investigated the alleged incident in October, 2016 but didn’t pursue a criminal case due to insufficient evidence.
Hayne has alsovehemently denied the allegations.
However, NRL officials are reportedly furious with the 29-year-old, who is currently in Israel, failed to inform former club Gold Coast, the Eels and NRL officials about the allegations.
Despite their disappointment, it appears unlikely Hayne will cop a Brett Stewart-like suspension for the start of the 2018 season.
But Lumby believes Hayne should not be permitted to play an NRL until the matter has run its course in the courts.
“It is my view that anyone in a high profile public position, be they are a football player or a senior person in an organisation, if they are accused of a serious allegation they should take it upon themselves to step aside until they are cleared,” Professor Lumby told The Sunday Telegraph.
“It is what I would do as a university professor if I was accused of assault or harassment or fraud. I would voluntarily step aside from my role.
“The same rules should apply to sporting identities as it does to the rest of the world.”

She forgets that it is accused and cleared by the police
not enough evidence for a "beyond reasonable doubt" conviction and cleared are 2 separate things especially in the States
Here here John. This woman is a dope.....and i find it laughable we have a Gender advisor. Laughable PC rubbish tbh.
I think that they would be unlikely to do it again
As the NRL's advisor for Anti-Leftie bullsh*t,my advice to this cow is to extract her head from her a*se and do society a favour by sticking it in an oven.Talk about trial by media.
Well the first thing the NRL should do is get rid of this woman and to even think they pay money for a gender advisor says so much more about the NRL than any criticism we can muster.
NRL gender adviser Catharine Lumby has demanded
How and where do we find morons like this woman demanding anything......my wife saw this article in the Sunday Mail this morning and was ropeable.....how dare this bitch or words to that effect she said could possibly arrive at such a situation demands she be immediately replaced as she has no competency to be judging sports people.
My wife has had a lot to do with sports over the years and she is not a professor.....but she could advise the NRL a few things as to how matters that are outside of anyone's control other than the litigant.......should be handled.
Greenberg should make sure he is fully dismounted from his politically correct horses and remove this woman as an advisor.....by simply saying we would prefer to have someone competent in a position of judging real life events as against someone that will take advantage of anything to further the personal agenda's and political bents you obviously have.
Now this is a time for our club and the NRL and other clubs to say enough is enough.
If Jarryd is banned for playing because he has been accused, investigated and then released from any responsibility then we are totally finished as a "fair minded"group of sports and life lovers.
This woman is responsible at every level (the litigant) and if our professor cannot see extreme doubt in a proposition of Hayne's guilt, then she doesn't deserve to be called a professor.
I would love somebody to come forward and say they had sex with this woman before the so called innocent.
She claims she was a virgin and took his underwear, why did she not take the bloodstain sheet she recollects and could be forensically proven as her blood. When the police did their investigation her friends admitted they had never seen her so inebriated .......when do people start taking their personal responsibities seriously......??
Legend comment Tom, whatever they're paying you, it should be double. While your at it, can you have a word to the government.
This is a civil case, no different to a defamation case. Would he have to stand down in any other kind of civil case ?
