NQ Cowboys and Mackay Cutters junior coming to Parramatta

Parramatta have reportedly signed Kurt Fisher from Mackay Cutters in the NQ Cowboys system. He stands at 198cm tall and 100kg, is a Centre who could move into the back-row. He took inspiration from cousin Ben Smith, now will be playing for the team that Smith himself played over 150 NRL games for. Fisher, 21 next November, hails from Gunnedah NSW. He is another player brought in with ability to be flexible. He ran the fast 40 time ever recorded in the NQ system, so he has pace about him for his size. But he seems similar to Jordan Samrani in that both are tall Centre's who could be project back-rowers.

It seems Fisher is following the footsteps of William Latu, a back-rower poached from the NQ system also. Last time i remember us signing a player from Mackay Cutters was Andrew Davey, worked out alright for us in 2020. What i like about this signing is same with a few others, versitility. We are not pigeonholing ourselves and players into a set position or two and fitting them into a system. We let the players develop, as long as they are hard-working and fit the philosophy in attitude that's all that matters. But having Fisher come in, no guarentees even starting in NSW Cup, as a Centre who could play back-row is great for us. Instead of forcing the likes of Dan Keir to play Centre in Cup due to not having any options what so ever.

  • Ben was a good player for us so let's hope his cuz can be about the same standard or better.

    • In 2006 he was a better centre than Gasnier was, and it was his rookie year! I recall his 2006 was good too, but he got an injury in 07 and moved to the back row and never quite hit the form he had at centre.

      • Transition into the backrow was pretty good as well.

      • He didn't get moved to back-row til 2009 i believe, that year we make the GF so says a lot. There was Origin talk for Smith early, then injuries got him.

      • yeh but Ben smith never got a pash from me in the noughties unlike gas 🤔😆😆😆

        • You weren't the... "There's four toey humans in the cab . . . and you're in bed. F--- me - fire up." woman were you Carlo?

          • God no I'm not into group sports 🤮🤮

gas was 18 and in second grade I think ( or just first ) and I was ahem a little older - no firing just a party pash

            • You cougar you!

              • Prob 22-23 mb not really

      • *2005 was his amazing year
