Now an outside back?

I am confused about our recruitment plan. First it was a hooker (Issac Luke) no good. Then it was a prop (George burgess) no good. Now an outside back in D.W.Z. Do we actually have a plan or do we see a name in the paper and say "let's go for him". The only time we have won is when we invested in a great crop of juniors, what's wrong with doing that now.

  • We threw the dice with Mahoney. BA saw he could handle it so instead of going for a starting hooker, we went for a backup in Mc Ilwrick.

We still need another metre eater prop and a class centre to be a top 4 team. Curtis Scott and Matt Lodge would be those two players.

    • This again is what we do ,  an immediate fix!  I'd rather invest in the blokes wearing blue and gold now. They want to play for Parra.

      • It's not a fix, it's an upgrade. Big difference.

Did the Roosters see Cooper Cronk as a quick fix ?

As for the players currently playing for the Eels, don't delude yourself into thinking they are playing solely for the jersey. It's 2019, not 1982.

        • Agreed.

The future is not. If we can sign a couple players that cant give us a crack at winning a premiership, the sooner the better. We don't have the time to wait for another 2-3 years.

  • We are in the business of winning now. The future is a fool's paradise. If we have an opportunity to strengthen our team then we have to grab it, albeit within the constraints of sound salary cap mangement.

DWZ is a world class player, he's only 23, his best footy is ahead of him, and there is a pretty good chance the Panthers will pay at least some of the freight. But even if they don't, he will make us a better team.

Signing DWZ doesn't mean we are abandoning the young players already in our system, it means we are serious about strengthening our team to win now.

    • The future is afools paradise  f..ck me I never thought I'd converse with Nostradamus! Ethan Parry is in our top 30, Greg L. came to us as a centre , in our top 30.They might be stars if given a go with the big boys.

      • Ethan Parry is only a development player at this stage, he's not in the top 30. But the point is we don't know if he is NRL standard, we do know that DWZ is. Give me the proven commodity anyday.

  • Yes we do Seth

  • Get fkn Ramien if we need a centre

    • He's not available.

"I'd say Pezet and TDS would be on at least double those amounts. NRL level spine players are very expensive."
