November deadline

A lot of clubs would be very nervous knowing in seven days their stars off contract in 2018 can officially be negotiated with by opposition clubs .In a year where the the competition for marquee players especially those in spine positions will be fierce. The clubs that hold their nerve I'd imagine will be the teams who threaten to win premierships in the next few years.Parramatta apart from the danger of losing Semi even with the domestic violence case hanging over his head are in a better position then most. We have more to gain than most and less to lose. This offseason is gearing up to be one of the most important in the clubs recent history. With the the front office almost sorted theirs plenty of reasons to be upbeat. We'll see how attractive the clubs become with Arthur at the helm soon enough, the pulling power quality clubs have seems to be on our doorstep. With our need for a quality half and hooker and the fact we've signed decent depth players at a reasonable cost. It seems we're are geared up for one hell of an assault on a couple of quality players.

  • Gutherson, Twal, Moeroa and Semi are the four we should concentrate on re-signing and are crucial to the Eels future.

Not sure what's happening with King but he should also be extended.
    • This ^^^
    • Gutho extending, King has signed for next year.
  • it will be interesting to see if we end up with what used to happen with the old june 30 antitampering rule when a dozen signings were announced the next day... (+ 10 days now with the backflip clause)

might explain why ben hunt hasn't ben announced yet? ;)

    • 100% that will happen. Makes a mockery of NRL guidelines.
    • The fact we don't have an end of year trade period is a joke. Imagine the marketability of a two week frenzy leading into Xmas , where clubs trade and sign players culminating in a prime time announcement of every players signing or trade.
  • I doubt that any player managers would be deregistered by then, but if that did happen it would make things even more interesting.
  • well what do you propose, push it out to 24 months?

the only you can enforce it is to have a private investigator or 2 under the cap auditor and that costs money to administer. money that can be much better spent

  • We should shore up our future with those last 4 unsigned first graders and then sit back to see what happens at the other clubs.  A lot of talent unsigned and we will have the cash to make some big signings.
