It is November 1, and oddly enough feels like NFL free Agency of seeing where everyone is signing and their values. DT has a terrific write up today about most of the players and it seems we could be better off than first thought. Now i will make my own predictions, not gospel, if you disagree just a simple i think this will happen instead or anything like that, just me having fun do not neeed hate ahah.
Reed Mahoney: It says in the article that he is asking for $700K, roughly around what we thought but 800K was what we thought we'd need to cough up to keep him, though Brisbane and Moreton Bay (sorry love that name better than just 'Dolphins') have baulked at the price only wanting to go with 500K. This is wonderful for us as we will start with 500K too and work our way slowly up. We have the leverage at the moment. Now Canterbury do want him and are desperate for even an above average hooker, they will overpay, however they do not have the cash as one may think. Will Canterbury be willing to shed many players to get Mahoney? how many do they need to shed in order to trump our deal? Unlikely. Gold Coast havent heard much on them but i think they will roughly be in same ball park. Prediction: Mahoney re-signs 3-4 years.
Clint Gutherson: Valued at 750K which is about spot on, give or take more or less, what he is on now. Again the market has not been overly kind to him on his wage but also on demand, no clubs have really thrown their cap into the ring for him like they have for Mahoney. Could lean in our favour, he is holding out for a longer term deal of 3-4 years, Parramatta want 2 years. Could meet halfway at three and add an option for 2026, or simply say he needs to take what Parramatta see is fair if he wants the extra years. This deal will get done, he wants to stay, Parramatta want him to stay but they will stand their ground on what is fair and believe they are not too concerned on losing him if he is overvalued. Prediction: Gutherson re-signs 2 years with an option.
Marata Niukore: Good as gone to the Warriors and good on him. He is being offered more than what we would ever think about giving him, so be it. He is from New Zealand, his partner is from New Zealand, they have a young family and COVID has stopped them seeing their family it makes sense for him to go and get good coin and a starting spot, money and starting spot we could not match. Niukore has been a great servant for the blue and gold and if he is going to the Warriors i wish him the best of fortunes. Prediction: Niukore signs 3 year deal with Warriors.
Reagan Campbell-Gillard: Now they have not written much on RGC, only that he is unlikely to sign past his current deal (2022). Now with RGC it is an odd situation, as some have it simply as he wants to leave Parramatta to Dolphins. Although it is RGC wants to get the best option available to him for 2023 onwards. We do not know the details of how much Parramatta are pitching in for RGC but it is likely around 500-550K mark, now being on 750 for past two seasons RGC, fairly enough, wants to see how close to that he can get offering his services. Now if the Dolphins are only willing to put forward 500K for Mahoney, i doubt they would go much more than that for RGC, therefore it could same situation where Parramatta just give RGC tiny bit more and keep him. RGC has stated he will allow Parramatta to match the offers he is given, could a club come up and offer 600-650? of course and more likely he will take it, though the talk for him has been quiet with only Moreton Bay being brought up by RGC himself. I think this will depend on Parramatta if they want to keep him longer, if they do then i think they could keep him. Prediction: RGC re-signs 2 years.
And do not be surprised if Sivo declines his 2023 option and takes his business elsewhere
Sorry if blog is overly long.

The Gutherson saga seems to be taking a weird twist.
Hahahahahahahahaha
Very good Wiz, i think Parramatta fans are starting to dislike Gutho more and more which is unfortunate for a captain.
The Moreton Bay Flippers. It has a nice ring to it...
Maybe Gutho can hip thrust the charging hole to get it going.
I'm loving that Gutho Telstra bit. I reckon it's true for a lot of NRL players today. Leave it a week and their managers will be making discreet enquiries about their clients re-signing asap. It's been all in the player's favour until today. Now all this speculation and hearsay just got real. If you don't have a firm offer in writing from another club, you've got nothing. Ouch.
I think quite a few lower level players will be be sweating right now, with so many players available the clubs have options and only a few top tier players will be able to cash in.
I have to confess to finding many so called attempts at humour no more than name calling and trying to see who can insult others more. But I find the Gutho/Telsta exchange hilarious!
I think it is family too Coryn, money and family and he will also not need to fight to start in the back-row for them. Here at Parramatta he is sort of in and out and moved all around in our 17.
