Notable First Round Games of Years Past

The build up to Friday night got me thinking of our relative lack of success in round one fixtures over recent years.

It also got me thinking about some of the better games.

In no particular order I thought the ARL fixture of 1997 v North Sydney was special simply because of the crowd number.

2001 with a huge effort v the Panthers followed up with a similar result in 2002.

Or way back to 1990 where Sterlo was best on ground at a wet Parramatta also versus the Panthers.

Any thoughts ?

Carving up the panthers in 02 was good. Vaeliki got a few that day I think.

The come back against the bulldogs in 08 was unreal.

Our record ain't that great in rnd 1 over the last few seasons, losing 3 of the last 4 1st rnd games...

So lets hope huh...

It was I watched that in the Aussie bar, Phuket on my honeymoon. It was a great time. Just timed the wedding a bit late and was still overseas.

3 for Vaeliki from memory, my mate i was with at the game (panters supporter) kept telling me how shit he was and he came out on fire and shut him up real quick.

  me too, weren't we losing 20 - 0 at half time? best thing was i was watching it with my mate who is a huge doggies fan. he was putting shit on me all first half. Second half.....well lets just say, payback is a bitch! ha ha ha
