Why hope it's false? We need depth at hooker with Pritchard gone. McIlwrick was good enough for the top 30 at Souths. Why isn't he good enough for ours?
We have other young kids that we can develop and I am for someone that can help develop Reed but what will Matt add? Is he better than Reed? More experienced? Cen he develop him?
Also if he was so good why would uncle Wayne let him go....
The other dummy half option worth developing is a skinny 18 year old who has never even played Flegg, let alone reserve grade. Let Schneider bulk up and play some footy against adults before throwing him into the NRL.
Hopefully McIlwrick isn't needed, but if he is he will be much less of a liability than Schneider this year. If he was let go it was because Souths already have a backup hooker in Billy Brittain.

Far from skinny. 6 foot tall and around 85kg. Still needs some bulking up.
Schneider played against Mcillwrick in the trial a few weeks ago and out played him.
But Schneider coming back from a year off and shoulder surgery, Better to ease him into it. Potentially could be our long term #9 Quality young player.!
