Norman, Gutherson and Moses

With Norman, Gutherson and Moses off contract next year, would you keep them? Gutherson is a fan favourite but he hasn't lived up to his form the previous year and with 3 Acls to his name  he isnt far off from a career ender.

Norman and Moses are both talented but seem like they both want to play the same game.

Do we let 1, 2 Or even 3 go and completely start Over?

The team seems like it needs a complete makeover.

  • Tbh , you’d have to wait until this season plays out before you can make the judgment . I’m sure they’ll all be on notice . Not one of them is a sure thing to stay , for me though Norman is a sure thing to go even if he plays well .

I guess thats one thing to look forward to in 2019 , these guys are all on notice big time .

    • Agree they all be on notice.

I'd keep Gutherson on minimal money depending on how his knee holds up.

I think both Norman and Moses put the writing on the wall this season in that neither deserve to be here beyond their current contracts.

    • Agree Wiz, we have 13 players off contract end of 2019, and don't see a lot of them playing on so some big changes to take place even if some of them are still with us next year anyway.

Gutho has had an interrupted time with us with injuries and I believe he is worth keeping though. My hope is that Brown as half back comes good through the year and could partner Guth in halves going forward. If Salmon plays on with us, think he's more a centre than 6.

All this really sets the stage for a real go forward for the club, still with 11 off contract for this year, we are going to see big changes going forward.

  • i would keep gutho . although i dont rate him as high as some on this site . moses is the half to keep on reduced contract.

  • As wiz stated all of them are on notice, however, it will be up to them what they do from here in earning a new contract with parramatta or another club. This is a blessing for this to occur with others also off contract at the end of the year. Brad Arthur will not be recruiting for the following years if he is being sacked or not being renewed. Round 10 can not come quick enough if the rumours are true for ba to hold his job. A new coach would be liking the prospect of having many players off contract for the new coach to buy. I think it’s a positive.

  • I feel that neither Norman or Moses will be staying at the end of next season no matter how well they perform, unless the club offer them good contracts.

My reasoning is that they have both been shopped around a year early which can cause friction between the players and the club. For instance would you want to remain at your workplace if they tried to punt you a year ago when a position could be offered to you at another workplace with more job security?

Only reason I see them staying is if parra put on the best offer available which I can't see that happening, a fresh start in the halves is whats needed in my opinion

  • Guth before his injury, benefited most from Semis big runs from our end, it put teams immediately on the back foot and before the defense was set Guth would run straight from dummy half into broken play and create even more space and opportunity. Whether he is slower and less agile now I'm not sure but he needs to get in behind Fergo and try the same tactic otherwise he is too skinny for centres too slow for fullback and not talented enough for half.likeable bloke though.
    • EggExactly  spot on

  • I think in 2020 there are alot of spots up for grabs. I think No Hayne, Jennings, Norman , Moses. The only one at this stage i think has a spot is Ferguson

  • I’d flick Norman. He’s had his few years chances to take the club to another level and failed. Gutho trying too hard and needs a permanent position. Mosses will give another year or two to prove himself

"The Panthers just re-signed / about to re-sign May on 500k per season, and have re-signed Tago on 750k (reportedly) at centre. Our 3 centres probably don't reach 750k combined.
So while they've developed great wingers as you mentioned, they've also…"

"600k is OK for the right winger. The Panthers sets are built on what their back 3 do on tackle one. The more momentum at the start of a set the more expansive a team can play but if our back three are getting smashed on tackle one and two it puts…"
