The State Of Origin series has been decided. So why have the third game, why have a dead rubber? No reason at all except for the TV moguls lust for more profit. They will have their way. So as an alternative I suggest that any player who does not wish to play in the third game be given an exemption. That way NRL clubs will not be handicapped by missing their star players in the third ,dead-rubber game -- assuming that the star players don`t wish to play the third game. For example, Jarryed Hayne could be given an exemption from the third game and thus be available for the Eels game. Same for Hoppa. Parramatta would need to produce an acceptable compensation for Jarryed and William because the money they get for Origin is quiet attractive.

Won't happen. Ever.
Players play their way into form and play out of position (Dugan) for a chance to play Origin.
Money isn't an issue.
A whitewash is more fuel for bragging rights and sets up the following series.
QLD held an 8 year dynasty. NSW will want to replicate that. That's Origin.
I don't care if our stars sit out or feign injury for the week. I would be happy to just see a 3rd game where several decent all in brawls erupt and we get what most of us wanted to see last night, a decent blue.
Jamie Lyon can do whatever suits him. If he wanted to play next year I'm sure they would consider him.
I'm sure Paul Green and all the Cowboys supporters don't agree with point 1 & 4 Brett.
Point 3 - The biggest thing to change is the Salary Cap and the mechanics of it, limiting the ability of clubs to stockpile decent players in each position to cover for an injury during Origin
Robert, each player makes $30k on top of their club salary to play an Origin game.
What do you think the players will say??
Bourbon Man I am well aware of the $30k etc, that is why I said such platers will need to be compensated.
As for what the players will say?--after SOO1 almost all players complained to the media about the load being put upon them. Some failed to perform in games a week after SOO1. We have players coming out and asking for stand alone SOO--no competition games for a three week period etc. Here we have the opportunity to ease that load by abolishing a meaningless game (which will not happen because of TV interests who care for profits and not player welfare) or to allow players to be exempted from that meaningless game.
The money they earn is quite attractive, therefore no chance in hell of them passing up that dosh for guaranteed income from clubs.
