No serious offer for Guru

Eric Grothe's manager has confirmed he has not been made a "serious offer" by the Parramatta club but told Rugby League Week that there were a couple of NRL clubs interested in his services for 2011 and beyond.

Grothe, who turned 30 this year, will likely sign his final contract for the next couple of seasons but his manager noted that he had a number of initiatives evolving off the field including his standout appearances on the Matty Johns show as well as a coffee shop he is to open up shortly.

  • For mine we are getting rid of all of our players who have a point of difference or x factor (except Hayne of course). The Guru might not be every one's cup of tea but he can do things no other athlete can do.
  • At the rate we are going regarding retention of players, along with our so far non-existent recruitment for next year, are we even going to be able to make up a squad of 25 players for 2011???!!! And also, at the current rate, we'll be sure to be operating about $1million below the cap next year!
  • If we aren't re-signing players must mean we are going after some players of high quality. And I also saw in an interview DA said that he would rather look at Juniors of parramatta rather than looking elsewhere and if no one can fill the void of the other players that is when he will look elsewhere
  • is parramatta having a clean out all of a sudden? whats going on. it thought you try to keep as many players as you can when you make a grand final. will daniel anderson's contract be renewed
  • why is parra not making him a serious offer?
  • EELS WILL LOSE AGAIN
  • The revolving Parra door goes into overdrive.

From what I have been reading in the blogs about our juniors Ando had better break out the cheque book pretty quickly.
Our last aquisition is at best a part time bench player, so who would he target?
Matt Rogers could be on the market - and I heard Freddy Fittler was talking of putting the boots back on since he can't get a coaching job.
Maybe an approach to Ricky Stewart as well - he played halfback didn't he?

    Interesting times.
  • If we lose Grothe after losing Cayless, Mateo, Inu and Keating and having signed no one my faith in the management will be shaken.
  • listen to ozzy on 2sm right now talking about picking up nqld player up cheap as we dont have much money to spend?
    • didnt we have a crack at Thurston where that money gone?
