No Finals Football

According to Kent on NRL 360 tonight the Eels will not be permitted to play finals football this year. That is part of the penalty for breaching the salary cap.All interviews have been completed and a decision will be announced in a few days.

We have heard such stuff before--there will come a time when the rumour will be true. Hoping that will be--- zero penalty.

  • These so called reporters; Kent, hooper, Massoud n co are scum. They don't give any objective reporting regarding the whole thing.
    • Disagree on Hooper. He has some integrity. That's a rare trait for a journo. The other two  are just shit c**ts

    • Agree, Hooper is somewhat decent, the other 2 are all about ratings, clicks and papers sold. Big headlines and little facts to back them up.
  • This would not make sense. Why not give a 20 point penalty instead? The only logic behind this would be that there isn't enough evidence to dock them heaps of points but we will shut them out anyway... Setting a complete new precedentt. The only way I see this happening is if they said they don't have the time to go through all the 700000 pages but have found enough to suggest systematic rorting. In that case the eels would take them to court...
  • When the recommendation comes down then it gets passed onto TG for him to make the final decision.

The decision will be probably leaked to various people the media from the nrl, looks like its already happening, to gauge public perception and or soften the blow, id say the betting agencies will be let know of the penalty early too..

Only one things certain, the same thing thats been certain all along, is that we are going to lose points, as for how many who knows, lets hope the season isnt rubbed out.

    • Snake that's exactly why it isn't fair for weekes to have leaked his recommendation of -8 though.
The public have no idea what it is exactly we have done in fact or what the NRL have or don't on us save comparisons with storm and dogs. So how can they possibly know what we deserve outside of what ppl like Kent are telling them.

That's the whole problem with this bullshit court of public opinion.

Just the same as some of us here maybe be totally wrong here in stating that we don't deserve -8.
    • Unfortunately that's called politics macy. It happens not just in government. I heard on the abc today a 'Vox pop" asking people if they had heard of the ABCC which is the centre of the double dissolution. All 7 people said they have never heard of it. Obviously 7 people who have no access to newspapers Internet of TV. The point I'm making is that public opinion is the uneducated masses calling for "something" they're not sure what but you can bet those in power can manipulate it through media..
  • so while all this uncertainty is going on rival clubs are circling like sharks to pick off our key players 1 by 1.

  • What a Kent this guy is
  • The biggest problem for a while now is public perception. Ask anyone who isn't an eels fan and they say we shouldn't play finals footy. In fact they are angry at the idea. The NRL can't ignore this and if they don't rub us out will have a hell of a time convincing everyone who isn't an eels fan why

Plus it frees up some spots like we all know who 5/8 will be but now no idea."
