No crowd, no worries?

So what's everyones thoughts after the first NRL game minus the crowd?

I think it went ok. Is it different? Of couse, I don't think anyone would dispute that. But the game went ahead, it was competitive, there were no major dramas. I think it's feasible for the comp to continue as long as no player tests positive. In the wider community non essential activities are being scrapped, but like most of us, these NRL players are doing their job while they still can.

  • The lack of crowd nose is an issue. A try has no celebration.

    I've said this on FB.
Take say 50 Dogs supporters watching the game at a pub, mic it up.

Ditto 50 Cowboys supporters at a different pub.  Mic that up.

mix the two audios together and broadcast it along with the game. Would add some sound colour to the broadcast.

    • I thought that's what the Dogs said they were going to do ?

You really noticed when the commentator called "TRY" and nothing else happened.

  • I will be interested to see how teams who play the eels one week fare in their next game. Bulldogs were woeful - smashed up by the eels and couldn't back up tonight. It will be an interesting sideline to explore as the comp goes on.

  • It was weird when they ran out, but I didnt really notice once the game started. The only time I could tell there was no crowd was when a player made a break

  • It was a little boring, but that was probably more the game itself. Actually you didn't notice the lack of crowd so much. Certainly we need something in our lives to distract us from COVID19?

I didn't watch any of the AFL but I reckon that would be much worse.

  • Some doggies players were overheard saying it was a pleasure to play without being spat on, racially abused or having objects thrown at them….and that is from their own fans!
