NINES SQUAD

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels have today announced their squad to compete in this weekend’s Downer NRL Auckland Nines tournament at Eden Park.

Five-eighth Corey Norman has been named to captain the side, having previously captained the Eels for one NRL Telstra Premiership game in 2015.

“It’s a great honour to captain the Eels side, and I’m looking forward to getting out on the field,” Corey Norman said.

“The Nines is the first bit of footy of the year, so all the players from every club are very excited and it’s exciting times out there."

“You can play a bit of football and there’s a bit of space there, so it will be a lot of fun to kick off the year.”

  • I like this squad. We arent risking our biggest players for the nines and we are giving our younger guys an opportunity to shone
    • exactly - not risking out best players until the real season starts

    • Apart from big semi of course!!
    • I'd say Norman is 1 of our best players definitely 1 of the most important if he gets injured we would be stuck with Luke kelly in the halves again
  • Good side bar Kelly, Morgan, Terepo & Toutai. Surprised not to see Schulte, Twal, Pritchard in the squad.
    • Yes thought Schulte and Tuha, our new recruits, would have been picked to showcase what they can do. We have included 3 halves, bit of a risk there I would have thought, except for Kelly of course if any get injured.

Wonder how many balls Toutai and Terepo will drop.

  • Looks alright, not really strong though. Thought Peats would've been named...

    • Peats plays the All-Stars game the weekend after and we don't decide how long he plays in that game so we probably don't want to play him too much.

  • I thought Semi was captain?

You mean Edwards is a liar?

Kelepi may excel at the 9's? Anyone know if he played for the Cows there last year?

    Fingers crossed - No injuries.

  • treating it as it deserves to be treated, a novelty event that's not worth risking key players for.
