Next year must haves

Hooker and another winger to replace Semi. Kaysa plays well in short spurts. Big front tower would also be a nice to have. Timmy Mannah has had his day.

  • A leader must be bought in and that leader probably needs to be a front rower, we need more size, more aggression and more leadership.

    Obviously need a hooker too

    • If Scott retires we may be in the market for another big non rep forward, but if that happens most if not all big decent frontrowers will be snapped up.  The talented big mobile frontrowers are very sought after today and are probably the second most important buy behind a halfback.  The money for elite frontrowers has reached new heights:

J.Graham (is on 1.2M next year)

R.Packer (on more then 700K per season next year)

J.Tamou (is on more then 700K per season)

A.Wood (is on more then 1M next year)

M.Scott (is on more then 700K)

P.Vaughan (is on more then 700K)

If a guy like Andrew Fifita came onto the market he would be asking for 1M per season.  Therefore, we are not in the market for an elite frontrower.  What we need to do is head hunt the elite u20's big mobile frontrowers.

  • We probably won't be buying anymore players Sneaky Pete, no elite players of note as we have already signed Evans and Moses.  Gutherson will most likely move to right centre, Auva'a to right wing and Hoffman will probably switch sides to the left wing.  At best we may sign Peats, but that will be it.  Don't expect us signing several rep quality players.

    • Well if thats the case it will be another year of missing the 8.

We lack punch up front and Kaysa is not an 80min footballer and never will be.

    • I think we will see quite a few new buys Dave, i reckon a few deck chairs will be shuffled and we have plenty off contract and money to spend.

  • A rumour came out online tonight that we are looking at bringing in a 'former NRL Bad boy' for the rest of the season but 'the NRLs integrity unit may not be keen on the idea''.

    No idea who that is

    • It's that Meehan bloke the former boxer Snake.

  • That 800k the raiders paid for paulo isnt looking too bad now

    • It was a smart move by Ricky.  Big frontrowers have always been very important but all clubs were unsure whether to sign them as the interchange may have dropped to 6.  But from what the NRL have recently stated it is highly unlikely the interchange will drop below 8 and 8 is here to stay.  Therefore, the big mobile frontrower is the tool you want in your shed.

  • Aaah right, hes already been at training apparently, doubt hes going to make any difference without a pre season atleast under his belt but he is a massive unit.
